too bad Blind Faith didn't make more music, they were one of Clapton's best groups!

My favorite cut from Hyde Park, thanks!

The neck on that Tele is off of "Brownie", the "Layla" album Strat.

When I think "Tele into Marshall," I think of Graham Coxon from Blur.

i think billy squier's raging rhythm tones on stuff like "lonely is the night".

I think of Jimmy Page for some reason. Did he even use Marshalls, though?

I think he Vox Ac-30 and Dual Showmans at that time

that's a good question, did jimmy get the marshalls before or after he switched to the paul for the second album?

I think I have a video of Jimmy with a Tele through a Marshall still in the early Zep days.

It was at a Denmark TV studio IIRC.

You might be right but I think the "Danmark" radio stuff was Rickenbacker amps... well documented in any case. That whole show is on the DVD set that came out a few years ago.

looks like not a marshall to me! the head was too deep, and had piping on the sides, about an inch or so in from the front and back faces.

also, one big weird cab with side strap handles top and bottom.

Here is one I think of:

Brian James from The Damned on the Telecaster

That's the DVD I have.
I'll have to stick it in and see as it sows a lot better view of it tan the "How Many Times" video does from the same performance.

Actually that section of the DVD is the only part of it I really like out of the two disks.
IMO JP should have stuck with the Tele.

Thanks for posting that. I'd seen it before but not for a while. Have been thinking about Blind Faith lately as I've been listening to the recent live CD that Winwood-Clapton did. They did this song and it really is the best song on the album.
He used a Tele now and then in those BF days.

Good call, but James also used VOX AC30s with his Telecaster. There's one on stage in that video you posted and his guitar sound in that video sure sounds like a Tele into VOX. I play my Telecaster into my AC30 and I get that exact same crisp, loud, grit. Doesn't a Marshall produce more of a thicker tone? James' tone is really clear bite. A Telecaster into an AC30 is the right combo for that crisp, gritty bite.

By the way, thanks for the inspiration. Rainy where I am at, so its a good day to plug my Tele into my AC30 and get that fantastic bite.

Wow, my ears would say that was a Les Paul tone. Not what I normally think of in a Tele.

That's a Arbiter Power 100.
According to this site, the Marshall preceded the Les Paul by a month.

Oops! I think you are right! I guess I didn't look closely enough. Thanks for the correction. That combo rocks very much too! A tele through either rig is awesome.
As the late great Emily Litella would say.."nevermind!"

Thanks. I stand corrected. It was hard to make out. i guess it resembles a marshall a little bit. Good to know anyway.
