Bought a Timmy from him and loved it so much that I wanted the Tim, so I could have an extra gain stage (to kick a boost off my board). Now, granted, I hadnt had the pedal long... 2 weeks, one of which I was on my honeymoon.... but I called Paul and he gladly swapped me out for the Timmy and price difference. I know its not a HUGE deal to most here, but its a big deal to me. I appreciate Paul asking me questions about how I was liking it and genuinely seeming excited when I'm excited about his pedals.

So, thanks Paul for allowing me to upgrade to the Tim, and for making me feel like an important customer. I got the Tim in the mail today (sent the Timmy on Thursday). Can't wait to get it in the mix.

Yep, Paul is great. The boost only works when the OD is engaged, so you may still want your boost pedal.

Does the boost on the Tim have a level control? That's the only thing I don't like about most boosts, they have gain knobs only.

I don't recall what he labels it, but there is a knob for volume and eq on the boost. I have mine with the boost maxed and the tone opposite. If you have the OD side set to clean, then the boost will be clean. If the OD has distortion, the boost will be too.

The current Tim doesn't have a dedicated level control. From the manual:-

The boost mode is a strange little gain/volume boost circuit. It's not meant to be a two tone on the fly type of circuit. It's more about if the gain cranked isn't enough you'd kick this on. The drive control on the back of the pedal changes the gain of the clipping circuit. The tone control effects the low end of this gain circuit at high boost levels. I think it works best when the main mode is already set up for a nice medium distortion. Then kick on the boost for some more hair.

There's a lot of great pedal builders around these days who are also great people. I don't think I could pick out the best. Cbread Nic, Marc Alfs, Josh Holly, Brian Marshall, John Frommel, Brian Wampler, Dave Barber ... I could go on all day.

Guys - thanks for the kind words. That means a lot to me, and helps me deal with some of the negative drama stuff that goes on.

JP1911 is right though - no reason to single me out with this stuff. There are a lot of builders who I think are great/honest guys.

Paul is quite simply one of the best guys I know.

I made a trip to TN in 2008 to do some recording with my band. While the excitement of recording in Nashvegas obviously left an impression on a little unknown band from Western Australia the highlight for me was getting to meet in the real world two guys I now call great friends, Mr Greg V and Mr Paul Cochrane. When I drove down to Paul's place on a cold Sunday afternoon Paul greeted me like I was already an old friend.

In the end the best thing about music is the people it connects you to. I hope its something I never lose sight of while I'm obsessing about my gear!

There are a lot of really good builders (and people, lest we sometimes forget they are PEOPLE and not just "pedal machines") on TGP. Paul C is most def. one of them! That reminds me, I need to get on the list for a Tim...

:bow Paul. Honestly, you rock. Way to keep the industry in perspective. I've had my TIM for about 2 years now and it is a permanent place on my board. Thanks again man. If I am ever in your neck of the woods, :beer is on me.

Absolutely! Paul, gotta say.... I'M LOVING THE TIM!!! I find myself running it last in OD chain, on all the time... I just love what it does to my amp and since I never play true "clean", the Tim gives me the best "clean with hair" and I love what it does to incoming pedals. The boost is exactly what I'd hoped it to be: I've dialed it in to really sustain leads and give that extra push. My favorite part is that the boost side isnt noisy at all! I somewhat expected it to be...but it just gives me a bigger and meaner version of what I have without it.

For the record, I play through a Morgan AC20TB and the Tim accentuates it well. Its a Vox-flavored amp, for you guys wondering what I'm running. My guitars are a Rocketfire T-style, S-style, and an ES-339. I have to say...my favorite with the Tim is the tele. I'm playing it alot more now.
