Just got mine today. Why does it seem so much better than the KoT? Had three KoT's over the last 3-4 years and never got it. This seems to have some "kick" to it. Only played with it for 30-40 minutes but looks like a keeper.

Well aside from the new internal dip switch choices, mike said the distortion channel was tweaked as well.

Yeah don't worry it's just the doublebox, the "real" box is inside that one, a normal brown cardboard one stamped with the sunface. Here are my shots! Although this was one of the first 10 released to the public, I'm #18. I'm guessing some hotshots got at an even earlier batch? Hey, I'll take Barely Legal any day!

I tried it with 18V and clean boost, but honestly with the JRC chip in there, it was whispering "don'tcha wanna crank me up?" and sure enough, it likes to get in the dirt more than the Timmy, happier at 9V and set at OD for my uses. In fact, I'm going to flip both of those internal dipswitches and run it though some distortion paces tomorrow!

if you strike at the right time, it's instant and delivery is next day. but you have to grab it at the right time! there's another release of them coming next week, no knowing exactly when though - have to hover over the site. in other words, no wait list for this one, it's popcorn first come first serve.

Lucky #13 for me! It arrived yesterday and promptly took a spot on my board. I only had a few min to mess around with it but it already sounds sooooooooo good! Hopefully I'll get more time today to put it to the test and to play around with stacking. Incredibly impressed so far (and the tweaked distortion mode sounds great!)!

He did say in this thread that another batch would be ready this week, but not when - so it's time to start refreshing the shopping cart until it sticks! just fyi the first batch went out a little before 3pm EST, and when the west coasters mentioned that they'd like a better shot at it, Mike released the second batch around 7pm EST. so who knows, maybe today around 7pm EST again?

Tried this and immediately got the tone I was looking for; and it's the distortion setting that really comes alive with the two switches activated-I don't think I'll be turning either of two dip switches off any time soon.

Yep, since I wrote that I've been playing with it and the Distortion setting's my fave now too - it's richer and less brittle with the two dips switched up imho, and makes for a cool alternative to the RAT when I want a different high gain flavor. I'll leave the "clean boosts and transparent ODs" to the bair and timmy!

Finally got my email today!

My long 14 month wait for the AM King of Tone is over at last!!

Totally psyched....Can't wait to team it up with the Plimsoul and the modified TS-9 on my board for OD stacking heaven.

Haven't bought a new OD in several months in anticipation of the KOT running on schedule. I even passed up my turn for the Ethos five weeks ago (a long wait for that as well).

All worth it now. Had the POT been around at the time I probably woulda still got on the KOT list.

Thursday eve I will be ordering it up and no looking back......can't wait to hear it with my rig. I've been watching non-stop demos all afternoon to remind myself why I got on the list in the first place. Damn glad I did!

Got to spend some time with the PoT tonight....it's my first experience with an analogman pedal.

I only got about 30 mins with it, but the pedal that's been on my board the longest (the Boss BD-2) has now been replaced. It's everything I loved about that pedal and so much more. My favorite setting so far is the "Boost" option with the volume knob at about 2:00, Drive at noon, and tone at 3:00....playing my Gibby R0 through a PRS Dallas and then a PRS Original Sewell...fantastic through both, but REALLY excelled through the Dallas which is a 6L6 clean 100 watt monster.

I actually have a high-gain both-sides KOT, which, after an initial hour or so a/b comparison, I think is very similar to the POT, at least as far as gain goes. There are differences, however, and I'll give a report back on them a little later after I've refreshed my ears with a second sitting.

Got mine and only had about 5 minutes to try mine last night, but I found that in boost mode with the gain all the way up, it is pure light to med OD heaven! Better than the OD or Dist modes from my brief tryout.

Yes, the drive knob works like a higher gain version of the KoT. I was going to try and request this when I ordered it, but then I noticed that it was already designed that way.

After trying many settings I've landed at the internal dip switch 2 (deeper compression) on in overdrive mode. Such a smooth yet still present drive - love it. Just so many options in this thing.

It is important to note that I will still keep my Morning Glory right where it is... I still love it for low drive.

The great thing about it is the tone knob! You can take a thin sounding muff and really beef it up with the tone knob. Anyone else getting the same results?

My POT is a high gain right side since my led is red :)

On my KOT, I use both sides the same, set on "Boost" - this is why I chose to get high gain on the right side for my new KOT I recently received. It gives me a little more gain on my boost. This side is the same as my POT.

I can't speak for Zozo , but I run a Muff before my KOT (set to boost).

A TS9 works well before a regular Muff to boost the mids that a normal muff lacks., but the POT boost isn't going to add those mids.

My Muffs have a mids control, so the KOT (which is pretty flat) just helps make it sound bigger.

Boost before Muff is going to add more saturation more than anything else.

Hmm...maybe it would be cool to have a tri-color LED that would have a different color for each setting, like white for boost, yellow for OD and red for dist? i mean, that's just getting fancy at this price point, but sometimes that little toggle, you just don't know what setting you're on unless you play or scootch down and see what setting it's on.

My name was up on the list for my 2nd KOT....I wanted to pull the trigger on both the POT and my 2nd KOT, but Mike didn't have the POTs in stock every time I checked...and when he said no more for a little bit, it was time to go ahead and order.

Got 2 KOTs now. Though I really did want try the POT out and do comparisons. Between Standard KOT, High Gain KOT and the POT.

Sorry a shopping cart does not hold a product, you need to check out to actually hold it. That's the way the eCommerce site works. Otherwise, many would get held in carts that never actually completed payment and it would be a nightmare to figure out how many were still available with many in stale carts.

After using it live and at home I've concluded I still like JHS MG more. Something I hear in the character of the overdrive (that is EQ and the drive its self) and the fact that it cuts some low end... Just can't see myself wanting to use it over the MG - we all have our flavors. This is a great versatile pedal, don't get me wrong, just not the one for me. I parted with my KOT and Tim for the same reason way back when if I recall correctly.

Remember, this is just one opinion.

Yup, I really would love to buy one. I had the day off today, and the ten minute window in which I decided to take a break from staring at the website, they end up selling out again. Generally, I take any YouTube sound demo not available in HD with a grain of salt because of the audio compression/loss caused by YouTube formats less than 720p :(. Unfortunately, I see this a lot with otherwise great demos. If you were to re-upload in 720p we would have a much better idea of how it really sounds (at least as much as any recording can be). Again, great video, I have subscribed to your channel ;).

I set mine up different than the pic. The Boost mode works best with my Marshalls. (I push up the V more with less D)

Same. My amps are bassy so the POT matches up nicely. I actually usually keep both my Timmy and Honey Bair cranked up on the treble to offset it in fact, so it's nice that the POT doesn't require the same to get into my sweet spot. Oh btw those are my settings too, i like both internal switches turned on. Here are my current pedal setting for all the above:
