I just saw a documentary on HBO or Showtime about Hef, and it was pretty good. He really broke down some barriers in the social and political areas, not to mention publishing.
Now, though, he just seems ridiculous trying to marry these early 20's blondes.
Just my opinion, but why doesn't he try a hot 50 year old?
No, I'm not jealous of his lifestyle or anything, I'm happy with my wife and kid, hobbies and Man Cave, I just think he needs to grow up.
Love that picture of him in the link looking all forlorn.
Just my take.

I suspect she realized that after he was gone, the only hot guys her age that would go after her would be after her money. The "greed" knife cuts both ways...

At his age and financial status he probably dosen't have to grow up, at least not in the sense the rest of us do, not having unlimited financial resources.
I do have a little sympathy for him though, not because he got dumped but because he couldn't see it coming.
Has anyone seen the tv show, Millionaires Club or whatever it's called, where female hopefuls line up to meet millionairs, and the millionairs themselves are looking for 'true love' ?
I wonder if any of those guys see what their future is with these women, since the entire premise of the show is about the money...

I'm sure he has socks older than her.
"He thought she was the one." Pha-leeze. Define "The One" for us Hef.

Sucks when anyone gets dumped but, based on his past, this dumping is comical and expected.

No, I don't feel sorry for him. He's obviously as shallow as the bimbo's he's been chasing since he became age inappropriate. You can't call it dumped when it was never a genuine relationship, the deal just went bad.

Does anyone actually believe that he moves in with or marries these bimbettes for anything other than marketing his brand? I'm not saying there isn't a contractual clause that they actually have to pluke him at least once, but really... it's all just hyperbole and marketing. And I don't think he quite gets that most people care less about his latest squeeze than they do about Prince's latest name for himself.

I'm sure he enjoys their intelligent conversations....
Any old man can have an old woman. Very few 80 year old guys can pick up hot 20 something blondes, unless of course their bank account is really well hung.

VIAGRA is a wonderful thing apparently.
Only a 60 year age difference between them. It's such a shame it didn't work out.

It was Showtime and agree, it was excellent.

I'm a fanboy of Heff the way some of you are fanboys of Jimmy Page or Cobain.
I make no apologies.
And if I would happen to live to be 80-something, a score a 20-something hottie (even if briefly), your ridicule will be as of the faint buzzing of gnats, to me.

I can agree with this...at 80 he's pulling in ladies light years out of my league

I see where Hugh, in an interview this week, said that he thought "it was time to get married" which is why he proposed. That rarely works from what I've seen, rather it has to be the person you want to marry that overwhelms everything. Otherwise it becomes the best available at the time you want to get hitched - always a (sometimes fateful) downgrade.

This thread should be merged with the Gene Simmons thread so all the celebrity breakup news is in one easily accessible place.

Only the marrying part is ridiculous.
If I was 80, and I could score with 24 year olds, I would keep doing it until my bones couldn't take it anymore.

The headline indicates he thought "she was the one." One what? What can those two possibly have in common? They both have a nose I guess.

Kinda sad since Hef was THE MAN back in the day. He was all things hip and happening, men looked up to him and wanted to BE him (not just cause of all the tail he was surrounded by, but because he was IT). Now he's turned into a sad joke....

I'm guessing those young women sleeping with him for stardom is not unlike "ok, let's hurry and just get through this."
Naked, I'd imagine he looks like a wet sheet. :(

One of the gals who was a recent regular at the mansion wrote a book not too long ago which described how the "act" went down with him and a roomful of girls, kinda sad yet comical....

Apparently a telling insight. It was reported that Hefner's runaway bride was in a jewelry store yesterday getting an appraisal on the engagement ring he gave her, unclear if she was actually trying to sell it. On the way out of the store the jeweler offered his condolences on the busted engagement and she said "It was just a publicity stunt". There you go.
