I have been playing with the models on my new SCXD and the one that really grabs me is the high gain teed (3). It's warm and creamy and makes my LP sing. I guess I never really paid much attention to tweeds before. I will now.

No idea what the sim sounds like, but yup, tweeds are the best. Smaller clones can be dirt cheap too.

Yeah... Voice 3 never really did it for me with my Ric, but once I got my Tele, it's become my go-to OD... So juicy and meaty with the bridge pup!

Yes, Fender's Tweed Deluxe 57 reissue is very sweet after a Celestion speaker change, it'll sound a lot like a cranked Plexi but at lower volumes!

That's the sound exactly. When I first went to that setting I thought it must have been for a Marshall. When I looked at the list I was shocked to find it's a Fender.

If one hasn't experienced tweed before, it is quite a revelation to find out all that lives in those circuits. Welcome to tone heaven.
I agree. I like the tweed sound on the SCXD. So what is a good tweed amp to get that sound?

I don't know what the tweed sound on the SCXD emulates... But 3 years ago I discovered tweed sweetness, gas'd, and picked up a Clark Beaufort Special loaded chassis on eBay. I built a cab, got some NOS RCAs, and a vintage Jensen P12Q.
Man... this thing has heavenly tone - from sweet cleans to killer crunch. The Les Paul and Telecaster just love it, and it likes pedals too. Punch an OD and the crunch crunhes! What a great little amp! This is the only tweed I've owned... has me thinking I may want the real deal... but I won't get rid of the Clark until I A/B the pair.

My Li'l Dawg D-Lux brings 100% tweed goodness. All day, everyday. Love that amp.

I've tried the SCXD "Tweed" setting, and it's decent, but do yourself a favor and go plug into a REAL tweed Deluxe or even Champ (clone, reissue or vintage), crank it all the way up, and I promise it'll ruin you for the SCXD.

3 is my go to setting, too. I've found that the SCXD doesn't really take pedals well, but on that setting, I could get by on my guitar (Tele) volume alone to go from clean to lead.

I too loved the 3 setting and ch1 nearly exclusively but then I saw this demo and started to realised I needed to spend more time getting the most from the other sounds...

Me too. Always bought and sold boutique blackface amps, telling myself I had to own one. Always sold EM. Now I got a nice tweed flavored amp and it's my number 1!

I have had a bunch of stuff over the past 35 years and finally came to mostly tweed copies.

When I had a line on a '60's Princeton Reverb, I bought a SCXD, to see if it was the sound that I wanted. Turns out, I didn't like blackface or reverb. All I use are the tweed models, with Delay. The SCXD saved me some money.
All of the amps that I own, have a tweed sound. Even though they don't have tweed covering. I have owned an old TV front tweed Deluxe, and play with a guy with two tweed clones. There are a lot of great tweed sounding amps around, that people never associate with being tweed. All you have to do is use your ears.

Another one here. I built a 5E3 clone. Already planning a second one. A 5F2A circuit with a 10" speaker.

Like # 7 on the SCXD a lot too. I'm a tweed man...;)
I made the same discovery earlier this year. I found a '65 Silvertone 1482 on Craigslist that opened my eyes to the wonderful tone these little tweed circuits produce. This one is Danelectro's take on a Tweed Deluxe. I play this more than my Marshall now.
It's so raw and nasty boosted with a Lester plugged in...

...and has a really nice old school crunch with a single pole loaded Strat...
OWgISAZ4PeI
...and the clean tone is to die for.

The best part is these point to point wired little tone machines are still affordable and you usually find them packed full of vintage glass. My amp was barely used and is loaded with fresh Silvertone labeled RCAs throughout. They are small and light but sound HUGE.
