Folks,

I just picked up a used Squire Classic Vibe Custom Tele ( good price ), and wanting to upgrade the components. Few questions and probably some advice:

1. Will the Wilkinson Compensated bridge fit ( no mods or drilling required )?
2. Is there a "modern" bridge that will directly fit into it? the ones with individual string saddles found on US Strats - much prefer these than the 3 barrel ones or the ones with 6 mini-barrels.
3. Any of you folks put in the mojo http://www.mojotone.com/guitar-parts/guitar-assemblies-prewired-fender-style/Tele-4-Way-Prewired-Mod-Assembly - any good?

I am not planning on changing the pickups yet, I found them pretty good for now, but the bridge and tuners will definitely need changing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Depending on the sound you're going for, I would recommend against 6 saddle bridges and look for a brass, compensated set instead. I have always replaced my American Standard bridges and have always been happy with the improved tone.

I've personally had great results from Glendale, and installed a Callaham in a friend's tele that also sounded great.

That being said - if you're not looking for that classic tele twang, ignore the above.

I think you'll have trouble finding a modern, 3 screw bridge that's a direct replacement for your 4 screw vintage style bridge. Some TDPRI member would know if one exists and you should post over there in addition to TGP.

And even though you're not looking, will throw my plug in for Lollar and/or Don Mare pickups if you ever start thinking about upgrading.

For other control plate parts, Glendale also makes "Speedking" volume and tone pots which are great. So easy to turn, perfect for volume knob swells or manual wah effects.

thanks... I'll check Glendale out. Just some context: I am just making the guitar a good utility guitar, and reliable. And, not my main one.

Thanks again, and if you have any other advice.. please keep them coming.

You don't have to do Callaham, there are decent Fender bridges and saddles that will offer improvement. You may not want to put more money in the guitar than its worth and most mods to that guitar won't increase the values too much. Pickups would be a vast improvement to that guitar
