HD 500 - Where are you putting your stomps?

For you guys using the Line 6 HD500, where are you putting your external stomps, specifically OD's, Distortions, etc, in the signal chain? Is anyone using them BEFORE the HD500 input?

I am sometimes. They work great.

I've tried them before the input and in the loop and I find they work better in the loop. The send/return levels allows to compensate for in case of clipping and I can still put the noise gate, wah and the compressor in front of them. I'm very happy with this configuration.

Do you use them before or after the input? i want to use the four cable method, and wonder if I should put them before the box or between the box and the amp?

I have had no problem putting OD before the HD500. I also set input 1 to guitar and input 2 to variax (so basically it's off since I have no variax). Before doing this I felt that the sound had some unpleasant clipping but YMMV.
