View Full Version : Recommend a good budget rack multi-fx unit (modeler or not)

All I really need is delay, lush verb, maybe a vintage phaser or flanger to go into the fx loop of my tube amps.

Thing is, I would really like it to "model" a nice analog delay, verbs, flangers, etc. You know, the delay oscillates when prompted like a good analog delay. That kind of thing which will allow me some more control on the fly.

Is there something out there in rack space unit that does this on the cheap for say $300 or less?

I've tried:
Lexicon MX200 - it was ok
TC G-Sharp - it was also ok

Would something like the HD300 work as an fx only in the loop? Does L6 have a rack POD that allows amp/cab/mic OFF?

thanks,

Not sure you'd be able to score one for under $300 anymore (and you have to go used), but the Damage Control Glass Nexus sounds exactly like what you are looking for. Not rack, but awesome nevertheless.

I thought about that too, but can it cop a decent analog delay sound?

Lexicon MPX-G2

It will do everything that you asked for and more. The only thing that I didn't like was that I couldn't get a Flanger sound that I was happy with. The rest of the effects are great though. The delays, reverbs, phasers, wah, drives were all top notch. I haven't checked the used prices on these in quite a while and $300 might be pushing it, but if you can afford a little more, it will be worth it. You can also use the 4 cable method and put it in front of and in the loop of your amp.

Or check out a TC Electronic G-Major. You can find those used for $300. I had one to compliment the G2 when I used to have a rack setup and those two probably my favorite effects setup that I've ever had.
