Hi! I really hope someone with experience will lend me an opinion, as I'm about to buy an expensive speaker (untested) for my first heads, I've always just used standard combos.
I recently aquired a Ceriatone 18 watt and Champ, both heads. The Champ came with a cab but no speaker, the 18 watt is head only. The Champ cab can be opened/closed, here it is:

I plan on buying a FluxTone speaker (see this thread (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=456886&page=1)) for recording at low vol. at home. I'm looking at the 12" 25 watt greenback model (http://www.fluxtone-speakers.com/Celestion_Green.html). It is an expensive speaker, so if possible I would like to stick with one cab and one speaker. The space saving involved is a consideration too.
So, my questions are specifically:
1) Will the above cabinet function sufficiently as a traditional closed Marshall cabinet when the middle panel is added (or with an extra clamp of somekind)?
2) Will the 12" 25 watt Greenback make the Champ shine, despite being nothing like the original 8"? I'm not looking for exact vintage tone, but I don't want to ruin/make the amp sound as a lesser amp. The Champ has an 8 ohm setting (the middle one), so that shouldn't be a concern.
Any help would be highly appreciated!
