I wouldn't say I'm "into" vinyl but I'm more into vinyl than I ever was. I have every record I ever had, plus some of my dad's, and I'm buying as many records as CDs nowadays.

Hmmmmm, I thought this was going to be about something completely different.
The owner of my company's sister recently passed away. He is giving me a vinyl collection of hers that is supposedly in the area of 400 albums. I also have stuff I have collected for the last 45 years including Beatles, Beach Boys and Dave Clark Five 45's with picture sleeves. I also have some half speed masters, Deutch Gramaphone pressings and an original Grand Funk We're an American Band on gold vinyl. Oh, and a picture disk of Who Are You?

I lost my entire collection in 1993. I hadn't thought much about replacing anything until recently, and I don't even have a turntable.
I bought a couple of mint and sealed LP's on e-Bay recently. Still haven't picked out a turntable but will probably buy an older Dual series.

about a decade ago...my parents offerned me a very LARGE...LP...player...the kind that looks like its furnature....they said it kinda played funky....brought it home, played the album they were playin...pretty sure it was just that particular song....that was FUNKY....it seemed to work OK....long gone now, but had to laugh

Yep. I actually buy more LP's than CD's anymore. I'm out of touch and don't even know how to download a song. I much prefer the ritual of playing a record.

Heavily into vinyls, specially old progressive stuff like Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator and the likes.
No cd will come close to the warmth of vinyl. There is nothing like the "popcorn" on some old Genesis vinyl record.

I really enjoy LPs. I'm only 24 so i wasn't in to buying music when they were prominent but there is a guy at a flea market here that has tons of unopened LPs. I used to buy from him pretty regularly but I have no where to really keep them so I stopped. i mainly bought stuff that my dad would tell me about that never made it to cd (like REO's first record) or stuff that was hard to find before internet buying got hue (like J Geil's Full House Live)

unless I'm listen to something in the studio (in Pro Tools) - it's pretty much strictly vinyl ( or satellite radio when I'm working in the shop )
In fact , 2 weeks I sold EVERY cd I own. And I got NOTHING for them
But they were taking up way too much room. Most of them are in iTunes and on my iPod and were gathering dust
if I buy something new - it's usually vinyl or a download ( and straight to iPod )

I bought myself a NAD 533, which is actually a rebadged Rega P-2.
My dad is big into records and he got one and really liked it. It's really nice. From what I have read it's supposed to be a good entry level turntable to the audiophile people but I'm not an audiophile to the extreme or anything.
I think mine was about $300 on ebay. I also have the NAD phono pre which is about $100 as my amp (Marantz) doesn't have a turntable input.
Have an old Sanyo direct drive mostly manual tt, it does pick up at the end of the record though. Love listening to older stuff the way it originally came out on.

My band has its first 45 at the pressing plant right now. should get test pressings next week. It's the only way to release music (with a free digital download), IMHO.

Love vinyl!
I have a pretty nice collection of 50s/60s jazz on vinyl - the only way jazz should be heard IMO.
I've been buying rock albums as well lately when they can be had at the right price. Just picked up Cream's Wheels of Fire. Worth the price for the cover alone!

Love the Vinyl, in fact I own a used bookstore & record store! I get to listen to records 8 hours a day--right now I'm spinning Jimmy Smith: The Boss, featuring George Benson on guitar (although Nathan Page plays guitar on track one, side two: Fingers, and he's pretty hot too, though fairly unknown compared to Benson!).
My bookstore was in danger of closing, like so many bookstores these days. I put Vinyl in about 2 years ago and it saved my business! It's now 50/50 books & records. Half the folks buying records are old guys like me, but the other half are very young, people who never had records and they are having a ball getting into it for the first time.

Man just got done listening to a bunch of stuff today on vinyl; Quicksilver, Steve Still's Live (what a great frigging album), the whole Jesus Christ Superstar, Trowers Bridge of Sigh's and the Eagles.
I'll tell you though, I HATE having to get up every 12 to 15 minutes and turn or change alubms. That's is just bunk!

I just bought an original Australian pressing of AC/DC's High Voltage. Ya know, the one with mostly different songs that you can't get in the US. It was 6 bucks!
I was at a place called Jerry's Records in Pittsburgh....bought that and an Angel City radio promo with 2 discs of interviews and songs from several different records....
I must've been born into the wrong generation....I love old stuff....

I recently ventured into getting back into vinyl... i have loads of old spinners from my younger days.
So I bought some new vinyl, well, quite a lot, got a Project Genie, bought a phono stage and.....was seriously underwhelmed.
It seems that nothing short of a £100+ phono stage will get it anywhere near decent to listen. And as i dont want to keep chucking money at it i kinda gave up.
TBH, my CD set up is not expensive, but sounds very nice indeed, the vinyl sound is way behind due to certain factors (NOT due to CD being better than vinyl, dont get me wrong!).
Maybe i will have another push at it, but i was starting to get into that whole audiophile ''you need better gear'' spend spend spend thing.. I did that years ago.

No. We've put boxes and boxes of albums in out back alley with a sign...'free'. Then we added a few boxes of CDs.
We like to declutter and get rid of physical 'stuff'. My wife has about 14 thousand songs on digital format all categorized by artist, genre, year.

All of my Hi Fi gear comes from Craigslist. I watch the electronics section daily and see deals frequently. Finding a $25-100 turntable is easy. Get a nice cartridge and you are set! I just scored a pair of mint Boston Acoustics A60 bookshelf speakers last night for $50. They have recently refoamed woofers and are set to go another twenty years or so. Yeah, you can go buy new and there's nothing wrong with that, but I really enjoy the older gear and an upshot is that it is generally much less expensive than new gear.
Also, check local flea markets and yard sales.....

have loved the vinyl format as long as i can remember. found a 1960 fender super and the (great) deal wouldn't last long so i sold all of my lps to fund it.
bittersweet....
recently sold my turntables, phono stage, cartridges, and almost everything else vinyl related because it made me so sick to look at it that i couldn't stand it.

This is only a few of the albums I have in the collection. There are roughly 21,000 in the building now. Ranging from 78s to 45 singles. Mostly country. Early Sun, Columbia, RCA Victor, etc...

I love playing records, but at the moment I'm in limbo due to snapping the ruby cantilever off my quite expensive cartridge.
Haven't moved past disbelief yet as I keep thinking "oh I know what I'll put on" then realise I can't play any records at the moment.

I have had over 500 LP's in storage for over a decade and didn't think much about them. That was until I realized a lot of the original US pressings sound better than even remastered special super duper legacy CD editions.:)
I still have my old technics turntable, I am seriously considering putting together a "Vinyl Only" stereo setup for the "man cave."
