Im looking for a new pedal and I was curious what everyone's opinion of all the BB clones. To my ears general guitar gadgets makes a great clone but I suck at building pedals.

I think this might be based on one--always wanted to try it but never got around to it and am not playing now: http://www.cmatmods.com/butah.html
Maybe you could search here on TGP for input on it - sorry I'm not familiar with any others... :o

I looked at the Butah (CMATMODS) and ended up liking the Morning Glory (JHS) a lot, has more presence and is modified from a normal blues breaker, but I plays nice with Tim and I am very pleased with it.

Byoc is better for a blues breaker (you can buy them built)
The GGG is way too bright

I've never tried a BYOC BB (nor did I even know that they made one?) but I own a GGG BB and have been using it for the past 3 years and I never found it bright. However, my tone knob is never set past 10pm (it's usually between 10 and 11) and I feel that gives me the most amount of warmth out of the pedal. I've never owned an original either, so I can't say it's an accurate representation first hand. But I've listened to a hand full of demos online of the originals and it sounds pretty close to me. It's one of those pedals that I always put up on the chopping block but once it gets there, I think back at it and figure I'm going to end up buying one again anyway.
I'm sure you can get a hold of someone who will build it for you at a reasonable price. I think I paid around $50 for this pedal with it built (and nicely done too). If you are patient enough, I see them pop up in the emporium from time to time for around the same cost.
