View Full Version : Powering my Eventide Space... current doubling cable?

Anybody know where I can get a current doubling cable to power my Space?
I'm tired of using the stupidly huge power supply and read in the PP2+ manual that you can use a current doubling cable to power the Eventide pedals using both outputs 5 and 6, set AWAY from Normal, with the red barrel end...
Anyone?

VL has a post that explains how to order it - as another option, you could go to the Cioks DC10...

How about instructions to making one?

A regular daisy chain (Boss, Visual Sound etc) is wired in parallel, and can therefore be used to double current. Use two plugs to the two outputs, and a third towards the pedal. Since the Eventide has a center positive jack, you'll also need a converter cable (such as the L6 converter (http://www.visualsound.net/index.php/products/pedal_power_supplies/l6_converter_cl6) from Visual Sound). Alternately, if your daisy chain has a female jack plug (normally used to connect the adapter plug into), you can use that as the "to the pedal" connection, and connect the red cable there (red plug towards the pedal).

Not gonna lie... that just seems a little too complicated.
There's gotta be SOMEONE that sells the cable I'm talking about; pretty good market for it.

Stomping-ground.com. make sure you specify the 2.5 mm barrel connector for the Eventides, and in parallel. Otherwise, you could easily build them.
What are the power requirements? If you need to double the voltage ie- 9v to 18v you need to make a series cable. If you want to double the mA you need a parallel cable. I am looking for instructions to make the parallel cable.

Voodoo Labs sells what you need - you have to call them to order. I think it costs $6. It's what I did to power my Space via the PP2.

Maybe you've already considered this, but what about just powering it from the courtesy outlet?

Not to sound harsh... but did you even read my OP? ;)

I don't think it's on their site, but call Voodoo Lab — they'll sell you one directly for five or six bucks, IIRC. I'd also recommend getting a right angle red barrel cable. :)
And FYI — the doubler is only really necessary if you're planning to use MIDI... which I think you are.

I'm not using MIDI at the moment for the Space... just for the Timeline. But that could change.
Why is the doubler only necessary if I'm using MIDI? I thought it required more mA than what only 1 output could provide... ?

I read somewhere that the SPACE only requires the extra mA if you're using MIDI. (Same as the Factor pedals.) Anyway, I've been powering my SPACE off of output 5 w/ a red barrel cable and the dip switch set away from normal for a couple of weeks w/out any issues. Keeping output 6 unused is recommended I guess, but I'm going to run my volume pedal off of that when it gets back as the mA draw will be minimal.

This and the red barrel plug.
