What's with all the Bareknuckle Pickups hype lately?

I've never heard of them before about a month or two ago, now I see threads all over the various forums I frequent....

....just wondering how much of what I hear is truth, and how much is hype....

Anyone used them? What do you think of them?

I haven't tried these pups yet. But according to just about anyone on the official Bare Knuckle forum they are expertly crafted. Carefully wound by hand using only the best materials they can get, they pot ALL of their pickups, and come in a variety of tones. Humbuckers, single coils, and P90s. They will even make custom pups per order.

After spending a lot of time listening to sound clips people have made and shared on the BK forum, I'm leaning toward the Mother's Milk or Slow Hand single coils when I finally place my order. Every sound clip I've heard so far sounded great.

Edit: Oh, and at a great price too. $165 for a set of three Mother's Milk SCs. Apparently if you aren't in Europe they knock 17% off the price?

Well, I've seen people spamming crap threads about Bareknuckle pickups on a couple forums I frequent. Not very good spam either. Actually, pretty dumb spam, like this:

That was it. Swear to God. Annoying.

I dont own any BK pickups myself but a friend has a set of "mule" pickups in his Les Paul.
From a listeners perspective, they are the best sounding pickups he`s tried.
From this evidence I would think that some of the hype may well be justified.

Don't know about the hype, but the pickups are good and cheaper in the UK than most of the US boutique pups.

Yeah, but the WCRs are the real deal. I put a set of Crossroads in an R7 a month ago, then ordered a set of Darkbursts for a CU 22 yesterday.

The best aftermarket buckers I've ever played are the Holmes and now these WCRs.

I have a set of Brown Sugar (Bare Knuckle)Tele pickups in my 80s Fernandes
Custom Tele replacing a set of Seymour Duncans and they are better than the already very good SDs. I have spoken to Tim at Bare Knuckle several times over the phone and twice at the London Guitar Show. There is no hype... the proof is in the pickups( quality materials, construction, presentation and sound) and in the conversation with a very friendly, no nonsense, well qualified craftsman in an industry full of hype.

I would also appreciate it if you keep your sexist, proverbs (humour?) and opinions to yourself as they no less offensive and dare I say as illegal as any racist rantings!

The clips sound good, but I would try to buy American if there is a comparable
competitor. The small businesses in the US like pup makers, etc. are in need of our business folks, now more than ever.. I'm not saying pups made in other countries are no good, but
man, TV's used to be made here, radios, cars, clothing and on and on. and everything we now have in our home with the possible exception of our best Guit-fiddles and amps is made offshore. This maybe one reason the bottom hasnt fallen out of the vintage guit market (Yet). So, even if these pups were the "Bee's knees" (I hope I dont offend any animal lovers with that obviously demeaning and degrading metaphor) I would buy something comparable (Of which there are plenty) made here even if it meant spending extra bucks.

I tried the Geoff Whitehorn and the Nailbomb humbuckers at www.solidbodyguitar.com (http://www.solidbodyguitar.com), and they sounded great! The Nailbomb has a nice, crunchy midrange, and is aggressive, yet sweet.

Geoff Whitehorn is a monster player! Check out his mp3's on the site.

And, yes, Tim seems like a really nice guy. He sent me some mp3's he did. He's quite the shredder. He's in the process of posting more sounds on the site.

Bit of advise - Don't bother with HC, TGP is full of knowledgable, professional guitarists.

Given the fact that people like the above (Rocket88, Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 1), whom find it necessary to sign-up on TGP to pump hot-air up our arses, I'm starting to wonder if a LOT of the spam isn't just the manufacturer isn't just doing a bit of advertising, like SOooo many of the glowing "user" reviews on HC about crappy products?

your joking? their pup's are NOT cheap! those prices are in pounds! and after you exchange at the shite rate our usd is worth & add shipping from the uk, i think you'll find these to be pretty expensive. as for how they sound, it's pretty difficult to sus out as no one here really has them in their git's for us to hear in person. clips aren't all that helpful if you really want to get a sense of a pup. having said that, i'd LOVE to hear the 'ssippi queens! they certainly LOOK beautiful.

I put a set of Mules into a Les Paul Custom for one of the guys I work for.It's now his favourite of the nine LP's he owns. Very articulate pickups, I'm very impressed by them. Significantly better than the stock Gibson pickups.

I'm sure that negative reviews would be out there if they didn't match the hype.
