Anyone have any experience with the Seymour Duncan Jimmy Page pickups?
It's time for new pickups for my 59 Historic, and I'm going all-out for Page as in Since I've Been Loving You tone.
So, right now it's WCR Crossroads at the top of the list, Timbuckers if I can get my hands on a set. Should I consider the Duncan's? Have heard some good things about them but not much info available.

Hate to throw a spanner in the works but I thought "Since I've Been Lovin' You" was a Tele?
I played a Hamer Monaco elite w/ them, really nice and very fat, I liked em, I was getting all the classic rock tones w/ a small box 50 watt Marshall and cab

Go for the WCR Crossroads...
you can't go wrong with these.
The SD Page model sounds like marketing hype to me...

:) Do I sense some kind of irony where you're actually implying that Duncan, a profit-making company, does in fact use marketing hype? Because that's a big surprise. I was under the impression that Duncan were just like the small guys who wind their pickups by hand while shedding tears of love and, despite being also profit-making companies, have web pages where you will only find cold, scientific facts and figures, like "the results are the best pickups you'll ever see or hear!", "We can easily meet or surpass the performance and sound of your instrument's original pickups" or "The finest pickups available today".

According to http://www.mikesguitarsite.co.uk/gear/led_zeppelin/ Zep III was the 59 burst, and on the DVD set he's playing the burst on Since. Tele was supposedly Zep I. A bit hard to get a bead on Page's equipment.

I've read in many an interview where Page used the Tele on Whole Lotta Love and the solo on Stairway. And everyone THOUGHT it was a LP because of the sound! Page used "distance miking" on those (and many others) to achieve that fat LP-like tone.

Point well made. I know hype and support it------I'm in the advertising business. Duncan, however, reaches a lot more people with their marketing messages than the hand winders. Bigger reach, bigger responsibility and higher expectations. Nothing highlights a poor product better than a good ad.
I'm not commenting on the actual product here. I have no idea if these pickups deliver the sound of the artist---but the expectations are gonna be pretty high, so they better be good.
guys, theyre fine pickups, how much you sound like Page depends upon alot more than these, they are decent PAFish units that can sound really good or really bad, it's an input issue ;)
