Yikes! A Floyd on a Jake guitar is a major no-no! He was such a badass he didn't need any bullshit tricks!

A Floyd is no BS tricks! Properly set up it is an amazingly expressive tool with the ability to bend into or out of notes and make soling very lyrical. It also maintains excellent tuning stability. GtrWiz have you ever used a Floyd?

Oh I was mostly joking because I'm such a huge Jake fan. :) Though it still amazes me how he was able to to a lot of the same stuff sounding stuff without one.
I have a Charvel with a Floyd, but most of my favorite players growing up didn't use them so I never got good with it. I mostly a Tele guy now...

I would love the figured top Jake pictured above with a Floyd and maybe done in a Bora Bora Blueburst or Jack's Pacific Blueburst like Anderson.

What is the finish on that quilt top Jake-trans black or green? Hard to tell on my monitor.

It's a trans black finish on the quilt lam top. And, the swamp ash body body was matched in color density to the quilt top color perfectly by Lee!!! It looks simply amazing!!! Here's some pics that allow you to see the color better. Hope that helps!!!

Hi Todd,
I informed Lee (GMW owner) what you had said and here's what he wrote back:
A replica of that trans black Jake with a quilted maple laminate top over a swamp ash body, plus an ebony fingerboard, would run $1850, plus the usual $150 for the case. The Floyd trem, hardware color, and his choice of PU's would be included. Same with an alternate color like an Anderson bora bora burst, which is close to my Jackson style chlorine color.
Note: The Jake models use single coil PU's with the lower loop in the PU rout. So most of the newer Duncan noise cancelling PU's don't have that front kickout, so there would be a gap in front of the PU unless a closed single coil rout was ordered. But if any questions exist, I can provide pics showing each style of PU rout. I just prefer that the rout for the single coil match the shape of the PU. So "non-loop" PU's from EMG and Duncan get a hot dog type PU rout, while old school Duncan PU's, along with most of the DiMarzio models, get that front loop.

Its trans-black..
And you mentioned a Bora Bora Blue-burst.. Lee sent me a few examples to post for you of a trans blue-quilt top and flame-top.. (although the flame-top is a bit dark in the pic)

The blueburst on the left is gorgeous. I might actually consider leaving it to Jake specs with the hardtail. Based on the above info about pickup mounting-would a pair of Duncan Classic Stacks paired with a Duncan Distortion pose a problem?

From Lee:
Yes, the Duncan Classic Stacks are not only possible and available, but that's the exact PU model I used to use in my old strat head Jakes. So no problem there. I also have those in stock, and in black. Obviously, a Duncan Distortion SH-6 is also super easy.
However, only one brass Charvel hardtail bridge remains, so when that unit is gone, that's the end of the road in terms of using the original factory bridge that Jake used on his old Charvels.

It's actually a trans black finish on the body. Here's a better shot of the body. Hope that helps.
