I have a collection of preamp tubes I took out of several amps over the last few years, and I have this one that is labeled "Alpha" and also has "Made In Germany." It appears to be NOS, but I have no idea.
Can anyone tell me about these? When manufactured, sound characteristics, etc?
Thanks!

a detailed pic would help. there are identifying marks and codes on most vintage tubes and the parts can be clues too.

I'm not familiar with the Alpha brand, but it is not the manufacturer's name. A photo would help, along with any codes you see.

RFT ECC83, made in East Germany.
Sound: early breakup, somewhat rolled-off treble, low relative clarity; coveted by many for overdrive in overly-bright amps
