Well I got it!! Picked up a super clean 2000 model! Plays like a dream. :)

Nice !- I remember beefier tones from these unplugged and plugged in though a long while since I played one ( never owned one ).
Do you hear loud unplugged tones and more beefy bottom end compared to most Strats ?
As I recall these were one of the first models of Strat with 12 " Radius when they first came out.........they look great IMO with a plain black pickguard.

I once asked Ritchie Fliegler, then of Fender, why the SRV had a Pao-Ferro board.
It had been debated on the FDP for months in great detail.
His answer: "Because that's what Stevie wanted."
