Uh!

My old Sony camcorder is dying, it's a mini DV with the tapes. Served me well!!!

I need a new one, any suggestions out there?

Thanks

yes get a hard drive one

with a hd that will record 2 hours and matching dvd burner you hook to camera if you don't have a burner- although maybe cheaper to install DVD burner. But it is nice for 2 hour hard drive to fill up a DVD. It also takes nice still photos- does 4x3 and 16x9. Here is a link to that type.

SD cards are nice too. I was torn over a full size camcorder or a small flip type. I got the Sanyo
PD-2 for $100 just to get my feet wet. I will get an SLR body when I get to that point.

Just as an aside, if you have music video on mini DV, you can pull off the audio and store it, or burn it to CD by using Audacity. It works great.

Lots of love for the canon vixia series here. At work we have two with the 16g internal memory and two sdhc slots that can also hold 16g each.

Little pricey but I think we landed them for $575 at best buy. No price mentioned. But I do love those cameras. 1080hd, great depth of field on the focus and very easy to use.
