In speaking with the fine people at Warehouse Guitar Speakers, they mentioned that while they could make a 2-Ohm G15C speaker, I was the first to request it.

Who here would be interested in a 15" speaker for their Super Reverb or tweed Bassman?

At 2 Ohms, all that would really be needed is a new baffle board (people like http://www.newellamps.com (http://www.newellamps.com/) make them), and (if wanted) a short two-wire cable to plug it in. Weber already makes the Chicago in a 2-Ohm model; it would be nice to have some additional choices that could use the factory output transformer.

I have a 15" in a Super Reverb, and it not only sounds good, it took about 50lbs (yes, EVs) out of there, so I recommend it highly. Now it's basically a Vibroverb with a Mid control.

Smitty,
See my post in the 15ner thread. Another plus! "Lightening" the load! Thank you!

Kind Regards,
Steve

Jensen makes a Neo 2 Ohm 12"/100 and a 15". Haven't tries one (yet) with a tweed Bassman, but may in the future. http://jensentone.com/neo_index.php

My super reverb head sits atop a 1x15 jbl D130. I love it.

The idea of a Super or Tweed Bassman head with a selectable impedance OT is very appealing. Both amps sound great, but a super head thru a proper 1x12 cab would be much more manageable in small clubs. A 15 would soften the tone a bit more. Knocking down the amount of speakers in these amps is a great idea.

Not in a million years, but for what it's worth, a friend of mine owns a '67 Super Reverb that was custom ordered with a 15" speaker. Came from Fender that way, and they stuck a 4 Ohm JBL in it, stock SR output transformer.

First thing we did when he got that amp was to make a new baffle and put the proper 10" speakers in that amp. I think that original 15" baffle board and JBL are still sitting out in his shed somewhere.

that is deserving of a treasure map.

I know that key to the wonderful tone of a super is the 4x10... and I respect that. Unlike lot's of other guys, I just never fell in love with that tone. I just wanted a 40-50 watt two channel fender with a tube rectifier... found a non functional chassis, rebuilt it and put it in a convenient head cab.
