Our favorite "someone's getting screwed" snake oil brand post of the day. :messedup

Still havent got a dozen strings from April 19th.

O yeah. :facepalm

Tried to get money back from paypal and it was after 45 days.

Yes I know about my credit card and that they can possibly refund me.

Hey, if you get it, PM me too, so my bass player can call him about his order from last year. Or was it 2009? Time flies . . . . .

Why people continue to order from this guy, I'll never understand.

Its because I have never got burned before and his strings are the best imo

Two things wrong with this:

1) You knew that quite a few others HAVE been and you easily could be next; and

2) Non-existent strings can't be the best.

I thought he got all this stuff straightened out. Apparently not. Bet his article in Premiere Guitar will be "on time"

I don't think you can even order from his site any more, such a waste I liked the strings. Good news for Curt Mangan, will be buying my strings there from now on!!

I'm not sure if the OP intended the double entendre with the acronym in the thread title.

But if he did, bravo. :beer

If I had a positive experience with someone, and then later found out a LOT of people got burned and ripped off by said someone, I most likely would take my future business elsewhere.

I also have to appreciate the accuracy in the Wikipedia entry for "Snake Oil":

The expression is also applied metaphorically (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaphor) to any product with exaggerated marketing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marketing) but questionable and/or unverifiable quality or benefit.

In essence, the term means fraud or related to con artists.

How fitting.

If you get contact details can you please PM me as well. I read that these were the best strings on the market so I bought some, came to TGP to read up on my new "purchase" and whaddyano? Seems I got burned too. I guess considering my experiences with "boutique" gear makers, Analog Mike, Paul C etc etc it is easy to think that everyone in the business are trying to do the right thing by their customers... how this guy is still in business I will never know...

Never again

One of America's greatest orators once said, "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." I believe that is really applicable to all of you who ordered from this company.

As an FYI to those who still want to give him money (not buy strings, just give him money:))...Just tried putting some strings in my cart at his site and it appears Paypal will still take your money.

Also for all you guys who are glibly pointing out my self inflicted mistake: Ive already got a refund through chase bank ( easy.. yesterday ).. but thats not what I wanted. I wanted to know WHY.. but mostly I wanted the DAMN STRINGS. I knew I could get screwed.. I ordered them anyway. If I knew I COULDNT get my money back, then that would have been another story.

Non-existent strings can't be the best.

Why not?

They never go out of tune

They never break

They're easy on the frets

No allergy issues

Looks like paypal is now not allowing payment through his site.. I wonder if he is going to run his business for his big clients only.. or if he is temporarily stopping his business due to his piss poor service and the evident problems that may have caused him?

For one reason, I think it is all because of temptation. People wanted to know why others still ordered items even though there were tons of bad news around him, so they did place their orders.

This thread is just another result of it !

When he called me up in July, he told me Paypal shut him down and he was in the process of trying to set up a dealer network similar to what he had with his Scalar brand from years ago. In addition, he was no longer going to sell direct. Furthermore, he said he was working on releasing a new type of string he has been working on and that string may be marketed under a different name. I've always liked his Pure Nickel Round Wound String and he's always been fair to me in the 30+ years that I've known him. I wish he would get his business straight. I certainly don't condone what he has done recently.

Yes, he needs to make strings and let someone else do the business end of things.
