a while back i got a sd-1 from one of my friends and decided to try and turn it into a od-1 circuit so i found these instructions online

Lift leg of R7 closest to the top of the PCB.
Disconnect wires from pad 5, 8 (see next step) and 11.
Solder a short wire in to pad 8 or desolder the wire from lug 3 of the tone pot (and leave wire attached to pad 8).
Solder wire that leads to pad 8 to lifted leg of R7.
Change C4 to 10k resistor.
Change R1 to 1k.
Change C2 to 0.0047uf.
Change C6 to 0.018uf.
Remove and jumper R11.

but when i did it when i plugged it into my amp it was really quiet when i turned the pedal on. after messing with it for quite a while and not finding anything wrong i decided to put everything back to stock, but it was still doing the same thing. i found that when i put another boss pedal infront of it in the chain it works perfectly but by itself it wont work. i've looked all over the circuit board looking for what could be wrong with it and i cant find anything. anyone have any idea what might cause that?

Are you using a battery or an adapter?

an adaptor

Ok, if its an old boss pedal, it uses an adapter that has 12 volts but when you daisy chain it with other pedals it works ok. Check out bossarea forum and search for psa vs. aca adapters, this will explain everything. Your mod was probably fine.

just a note: when modding (or doing a mod for the first time) its always smart to do 1 step fo the mod at a time and test after each one so that you know what mod went wrong

ya i was thinking that could be the problem but there's a sticker by the power input that says psa 9v so i dont think thats the problem but ill try it later. my roommate stole my amp for band practice so i can't mess with it now
