Are singers still having their testicles removed?

I read that back in the 80's (the 1780's, that is) singers were having their testicles removed in order to increase their range and hit those really high notes. Are they still doing that, and if so which doctor would you recommend?

The thing that makes it even funnier is that it is true. It was done quite frequently up until the mid 1800's.

yup Castratos were the rock stars of thier day. Back then women were not allowed to sing in public so they got all the high songs. They were so popular that Napolean gave a Castrato the French Star which is the highest military award, his generals were not pleased. One of the Popes signed an edict outlawing it but it still went on until the 1900s.

Bull testicles, usually. In the name of sustainable agriculture they tried using testicles from the cow that they took the tongue from (ref. Gene Simmons), but then they realized that cows don't have testicles.
