View Full Version : What power supply do I need?

So here are the pedals that will be on my board once it is finished:
Boss TU2 tuner
Keeley Boss Blues Driver
Boss SD1
Strymon Lex
Strymon Blue Sky
Strymon Timeline
EHX HOG
is there a power supply that will power all of these from a single unit using NO wall warts? I want to be able to mount the unit under my Pedal Train Pro and not have to worry about wall warts if I can help it.
The usual suspects are out....the Lex and BSR use 250 mA
The Timeline uses 300 mA
The HOG came with a 500 mA center pos adapter (if anyone knows the exact specs on what kind of mA is necessary that'd be great)
I suppose I could run the tuner and drives from one outlet and daisy chain them, but then I have a daisy chain with like 5 unused plugs floating around.
Any suggestions?

I was thinking Cioks TC10 (4 high ma outs). But then if the HOG really does need 500, the TC's highest out is only 400.
Edit - oops sorry. Tc has 12v outs in some. Hmm. DC10 can handle all the strymons plus the other pedals, just not the hog (if it's 500 ma).

Eventide Powerfactor (made by Cioks) or the DC10 will be adequate PSU for your needs. A T-Rex Chameleon would be a sufficient PSU as well.

Chameleon Only goes up to 300 mA, Cioks is 400
I guess I should email EHX and see what the HOG actually NEEDS

Yeah, that would be the best thing to do. The Cioks DC10 won't be able to feed all of the 4 high ma pedals. It can only do three (the Eventide/Cioks can also only do three high-ma pedals).

Well dammit.
I feel like I remember seeing a forumites pedal board on here somewhere that was really swanky and he had some crazy power supply that could power really high mA draw pedals....Maybe the power supply was red? I don't remember the name....but I remember it was a bit pricey...in the $3-350 range, but I feel like I recall it having enough juice to power all those pedals.

How about Gigrig? It's 5000mA total, and I believe you can power up HOG using Evenflo (1000mA, center positive, 2.5mm)

The rate of the HOG power adapter is 500mA. I believe the HOG's actual power requirement is around 250mA.

If that's true, it'll make my life so much easier

Hi,
I would suggest our CIOKS DC10 and go like this:
Boss TU2 tuner - outlet 1
Keeley Boss Blues Driver - outlet 2
Boss SD1 - outlet 3
Strymon Lex - outlet 5
Strymon Blue Sky - outlet 6
Strymon Timeline - outlet 7
EHX HOG - outlet 8
I haven't got the exact mA figure on the HOG since we hanen't measured this particular pedal. But our 400mA sections will provide you with 12V @ 400mA with no problem so even higher loads at 9V will still give you clean voltage. I doubt that the HOG draws all 500mA. The safest thing would definately be to email EHX directly and ask.
Regarding T-Rex Chameleon capabilities and other Fuel Tanks please have a look at: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?p=11385798#post11385798
Best,

got a reply from EHX very quickly...HOG needs 9v 250 mA!
so the CIOKS will be perfect. thanks a ton!

This. And then you never have to worry about power. Powerfull and scalable.

Gigrig w/ all the add-ons you will need becomes expensive. And not isolated.

Yeah gig rig was nice, but a bit of overkill. If I was doing stadium tours I'd be all over it though. The Cioks seems perfect

This.
Looks pretty flexible though if you have lots of different stuff.
