I have a Joe Barden Tele bridge that I picked up and went to swap it out on my CIJ Tele this morning. But WAIT, on the Barden the through holes for the strings are in front of the screws that fasten the bridge to the body of the guitar. On the stock bridge they are behind said screws. I could move the whole bridge back some and drill new pilot holes for the bridge fastening screws, but then the whole bridge including the position of the pickup would be moved back a good amount. That's not seeming right. I believe there is enough travel on the saddle screws for correct intonation but this is clearly not a drop in replacement, which I assumed it was (silly me). Are there different variations of the tele bridge and I've just got the wrong one? I need some schooling.....

I just went to Joe Barden's page, yes there are two versions, it's explained here under "Which one do I need, the Vintage or American Standard bridgeplate?":
