has anyone tried it? whats this brilliant channel it has? is it made to sound like an ac30 with a treble booster?

AC30s have two channels: the "normal" channel and the "Top Boost", a.k.a. "Brilliant", channel. The new TBiaC design duplicates this configuration.

I was checking out menatone pedals. IS it me, or do the clips of the howie, snapper, blue collar sound quite similar...a TS type sound. Has anyone tried Menatone pedals? Do these OD fare well against the likes of Tim, AC boost, Gainster, Diamond Jdrive?

None of those pedals sound remotely alike in person.

Love my TBIAC (I have the older 5-knob).
Awesome amp-like tones with incredible dynamics in there.
Very little compression.
Play soft and get warmer, cleanish tones, and dig in for the
grit and chime. Does and excellent simulation of that
"flubbiness" of driven tubes and speakers. Growls in some
very nice ways (don't put the gain past 2:00)
The CUT and TREBLE controls take a while to tweak
to your rig.

I'd love to hear a report on the newest TBIAC.
It appears to be set up a bit differently.

Cubba put one up at Toyz forum.

I had 2 five knob versions. Sold both of them when I got an AC30CC (sounds great) and a boutique EL84 amp.
I tried the new version for kicks and HOLY MOLEY! I sold the AC30 and the boutiue amp! OK, does that tell you how I love it?
I use the regular channel set for NO gain or LO gain and it IS an AC30 clean sound! All the detail, chime, honk are there. I Usaully add gian with other pedals.
I use the boost set to minumum (fully CCW) to biggenate and clarificate my other OD's (a favorite thing to do).
But I also I set both controls higher to get into AC OD territory and lve this too.
It is a lifelong keeper.

slopeshoulder, what amp are you using the TBIAC with now? I am curious, cause I have a Fender amp and wondered if the TBIAC could cop convincing AC30 tones with a Fender amp.

Bruno Cowtipper 45 with either 212H or 212Blue cab. It's a Fendery amp, but refined. Check the TBIAC out and if you still want to sclepp an AC30 (even the head weighs a ton) or buy a boutique EL84 amp, you can.
Enjoy!
Mine's on the way. Should have it mid this week---I'm really hoping this can put a damper on my Vox GASfor a little while...

Menatone is one of the best inovative builders around. I am a huge fan of his designs and his quaility.
The Howie (6 knobber) is just perfect for my rig. If I had to have one box that would be the one.

So I'm guessing by the physical location of the boost switch on the new TBIAC (on the right) that the boost is before the OD circuit and is used to up the gain rather than boost the volume like it is on a Box of Rock? Is just one knob assigned to the boost function? Can it be used separately?

The boost can be used separately, and I often do.
It does boost gain and volume into the TBIAC.

That was the only 'review' of the TBiaC that I have found on-line.

No worries, some folks have bad history with the TOYZ and tend to (over)react strongly when they are brought up, but that really shouldn't derail this thread about a very G.A.S.-worthy pedal. There are plenty of other threads to discuss m-TOYZ. This one is about a Menatone pedal. :)
Brian is really kicking butt with the latest versions of his pedals. After the TBiaC I'll probably be going after a new 8-knob Workingman's Blues.

I mentioned the review at Toyz as well for the TBIC. Cubba knows his Vox tones , thats why I mentioned it.
I just ordered 3 Menatones. I thought the clips ruled and I'm beginning to like the idea of an "amp in a box".
I got the KOB, WMB and the TBIC (backordered) coming in.
I fully expect to pop for the latest Howie as well.
Ordered from Toyz, btw.:RoCkIn

Oops, I was commenting on the inevitable onset of GAS once again, not commenting on Toyz at all as I have no experience with them. Basically, the review further fanned the flames, that's all.
Carry on :D

I feel like I might end up doing the same thing---especially since the clips on the site are done with a blackface-style amp like mine, which makes it even harder to pass up.
I have the TBIAC coming from Brian at Super Sound Music, and I am really wanting to do comparisons of the KOB with the Crunch Box and the WMB with the Box of Rock.
That could end up being three new "amps" for under a grand---and my girlfriend wouldn't complain about how much space it takes up!

Hey fatback.
I'd love to see a video demo of the new TBIAC.
I'm also particularly interested in hearing how it reacts with a Vox style amp too if that's possible. I'm curious as to whether it works well with the Vox as an extension of that amp or whether it's better as an amp simulator into say a Fender.

I keep asking questions about what drives would stack well with my TBIAC but no one seems to have any opinions on it.
I like mine a great deal and it and a Hao Sole Pressure are my only overdrives. Gets me some good Power Pop tones.

I did one track with the TBIC so far.
I hope to do more.
The TBIC as well as my other Menatones kick ass, IMO. There is nothing like them, IMO

I wonder how this pedal would sound through an AC30CC. Vox heaven?
Are the TBiaC pedals even in production now? The website I found said "discontinued". ????

they are made. check dealers.
Just bought one from Truetone in Santa Monica...one of the new 4 knob hand-wired ones (#022). I have only had it for two days, so take this for what it is worth...but it fit perfectly into my rig (Top Hat Super Club Deluxe) right away...one of those "just right" moments. All the other things I've had a "just right" moment with are still on my board, even after years.
I am using it more as an overdrive that has a different texture versus a "vox in a box". I was worried that it did not have a cut knob, but so far I don't feel the need for it. It excels at the edge of breakup voxy sound, and is surprisingly uncompressed versus other overdrives I've used. The Bass and Treble controls are interactive, like on a vox. As I used voxes over the years, the interactive EQ feels familiar to me...eq with ears, not eyes (it basically says the same thing in the manual). For example, if you crank the bass, the mids start to decrease like on a real vox...and if you dial back the treble it gets thicker, not just less trebly.
I know this is an old thread, but yes, the TBIAC is still available, and it sounds great with my Top Hat Super Club Deluxe. Not sure what is up with the Menatone site, but you can see what the new ones look like at various dealers' sites (e.g., Pedalgeek http://www.pedalgeek.com/cgi-bin/new_shop.cgi?command=link--intro has the entire line on the web, even if the Menatone site does not...).
I opened it up, and it is a work of art inside. I am not sure what the older, multi-knob versions looked like inside, but these new ones are impressive.

I hate to bring up an old thread, but I just picked one of these dudes up yesterday (an 8 knobber) and I was wondering if anyone had a lead on a pdf manual-- really, a quick explanation of the sag knob would be cool. I definitely like what I'm hearing, but I'm not quite sure I'm totally understanding its subtlety.

it adds compression, particularly to the low end. it simulates the effect of a tube rectifier "sagging" under duress.
