Seeing all the pics and video of the floating pig for Pink Floyd got me itching for a new t-shirt, so I go to their website and notice the t-shirts were $58 each. Gottdamn, when did t-shirts become so expensive? Granted most of them were in the $30-$45 range, but still, it's a t-shirt with an iron-on. Is that the current price of t-shirts at most concerts these days?:huh

I paid $25 for a T shirt at the Foo Fighters concert last weekend. Hoodies were $45.

Lately I've noticed that t-shirts at shows are $25 or $30.

PF store doesn't even have my favorite PF t-shirt. :(

My wife bought a My Chemical Romance T-shirt at the show on September 10th. It was $30.

The thing I hate even more than T-Shirt price increases are the bands using the super thin, undersized, eco friendly material for tour shirts. I have XL phish shirts from 10 years ago that are thick and still fit perfectly. I started buying XXL for the last two years to compensate and both fit like they're a Medium.

My understanding is merchandising is where bands make a lot of their share of the money from. Could be completely wrong, just what I read or heard somewhere.

Lot's of bands sell their CD's for $15 a pop at shows too, which confuses me. Sell it for $10, as that's what we're going to pay for them everywhere else. I know there is the possibility that they will make more money from people swept up in the moment, but for $10 they'd sell out b/c everyone would just pop for the newest disc.

^ Same for me. Wolves In The Throne Room just last night, $15. That's about normal, I'm wearing a Landmine Marathon shirt now that I got for $10.

Yeah, behemoths like Pink Floyd will follow the Eagles precedent and charge absolute top dollar for everything, because they know they can get it. Frankly, $58 for one of their shirts seems low.

That's funny (well not really) I have a TAB shirt that I love the design, but quality is terrible. Not only has it shrunk a size, but it's twisting.

Yeah, a lot of concert T-shirts aren't what they used to be. "They give you this, but you pay for that..." I say, feel the quality! If it isn't there, don't buy it.

there is alot of perceived value in a brand...think Chanel, Timex, Tide....same for the Floyd...there is only one....you should see what the Stones charge for their stuff...

Rock T-shirt prices are out of hand. They cost a couple of bucks each to produce. No T-shirt should be over $15 or less max.

$30 is a barely tolerable

but $30 for incredibly low quality is totally intolerable... my days of buying shirts have ended

Cost of a t-shirt: $3 for crap, $7-10 for really nice
Cost of silkscreening a t-shirt: $20 per screen of ink for every 100 shirts
each color requires 1 screen to print
Throw in 10% for the time of the printer and use of facilities

The rest goes to the band

Last show I went to which was A Perfect Circle I decided I might buy a t shirt. Once I got close enough to the counter to see, the t shirts were either $35 or $45 each. I quickly turned away. At most shows I've been to t shirt prices have been ridiculous. If I see a shirt I like at a show or on a band's site, I try to find it on ebay for cheaper
