Hi all,
here is a rough mix of an acoustic bossa nova-ish instrumental "Acoustic dream"by a good friend of mine who invited me for a couple of solo spots on it.He's a great player and all the acoustic nylon guitars on the track are played by him, except for the two steel-string acoustic solos that I take @ the 1:45 and 4:00 minute marks. Although it's a rough mix and not teh final version he's peparing I thought it was a great instrumental piece and his playing smoked.Any opinions and comments are appreciated and I'll be glad to relay them to him. Thanks and hope you enjoy it:

Awesome. I love it. One thing I thought was especially bitchin' was the final note of your first solo, Vlad - that hard unison punch really works! Way hip.

I agree about the keyboard - gives it too much of a pop feel to my ear. Instead, if you want a smooth underlay like that, what about guitar with some subtle volume pedal swells? Might work, at the risk of making the piece too guitar-heavy.

But that's a nit. Generally it's a great job. Congrats.

Zenpicker,
thanks so much for taking the time and listening!Yeah I also thought it'be a good idea to land on G-the first note of the head-at the end of my first solo:p I can see the point about the keyboard pad,but perhaps he's trying to achieve a "poppier" effect:rolleyes: which is all good if he likes it and wants it.Thanks again,

Pro recording's got nothing to do with it Vladik, strictly a matter of personal taste :)

You're right,Ant,it really is about personal taste! The more people point out the "poppy" sounding pad,the more I think and electric piano patch would kill on this track.

Great sound and great playing.
It's tough to get good acoustic tone.

Thank you for posting.

I have been practicing my acoustic and jazz box.

Thank you for sharing your recording.
Great sound and great playing.

How did you record? What kind of mics?

I am not a monster player. I just practiced my rhythm
for hour and a half after kids and my wife slept.

Thank you.

Tomo, recording on my side was pretty uncomplicated-just a cheap-o Takamine acoustic/electric piezo out in the sound card with some compression and delay added later. Now,my buddy definitely got a great sound out of the nylon string acoustic he used-I'm sure it's not a fancy guitar but he might've used a mic or two to get that fat sound.I hope we get to hang out soon and this time if we go to NOBU I'll make sure I know how to use those damn chopsticks:mad: :D

Myles, thanks for listening and for the encouragement! It's much appreciated!

Myles,
you're probably rferring to the fast muted runs-yeah,I guess it's a DiMeola throwback.Although,I'm not a fan of his electric playing I think some of his acoustic stuff is bitching!

Pete and Paco,
thanks for being such good sports and I appreciate the kind words!Hopefully, soon there will be more to come, more is in teh making!

Very nice. Well played and well recorded. Reminded me a bit of Marc Antoine. I enjoyed it, but definitely not Bossa-Nova.

Thanks Jim, for the kind words. You're right it ain't bossa-nova,just a little reminiscent, thus the thread name is "Bossa Nova-flavoured...";) :p Thanks for listening,
