Sitting here with my hound on the veranda of my ground floor room at a b&b on a quiet side street.

Got here yesterday and it's been pouring most of the time but finally let up a few hours ago, now it's pleasant with a cool, light breeze.

Walked up and down Duvall a couple of times, had a beer and burger at hogs breath, Piccadillo from el siboney for lunch today. Spent a little while watching Mallory square getting revved up for the tourists. Wandered around the side streets a bit in the rain, pic at mile marker 0, cuban coffee from 5 brothers. Not sure I get the Cuban coffee thing, I'm good with Starbucks.

Interesting town, an odd mix of quaint, delapidated, and impressive, right on top of each other, and all in a quirky sort of way. Havent witnessed any debauchery but then again it's Monday night and I'm sitting on my porch.

It always strikes me as odd that people live in these sorts of places, and i wonder how they manage it, I can certainly see the attraction. My thoughts on it tend to incline to, "why wouldn't you want to live here?" then they snap back to reality.

Be here for two more nights, think it might get a little boring.... Hopefully the weather will stay decent, it's far more relaxing.

I haven't been to Key West in 10 years. I need to go back.

It's a pretty laid back place....not really that much to it.

Hogs Breath was cool.....and the little shops were unique.

Not much beach wise.

A good place to check out for a couple days.

Have fun.

Always liked the shrimp quesadillas at Reverend Joe's Cafe. The acquarium is a nice diversion if the weather is off. If you're up for a boat ride, there are some great snorkel spots nearby. Enjoy the rest of your vacation! Moses

Consider me jealous.

The Wyndham at the other end of Duval used to have Waverunner rentals and would allow you to take them around the entire island.

An old friend of mine from when I lived in Germany plays at Willie T's. If you get a chance, go by and talk to Gerd... tell him Darrell said Hi.

I love the quirkiness of Key West... Just have fun.... There are some fine musicians there when you get past the Jimmy buffet stuff

Been there a few times over the years. Always had a good time..with fellow students, later on with the girlfriend, and later still with the kids.
Lotsa great memories.
I'm a Hemingway fan, so I always ended up at his place. :)

Enjoy!

Very true. Dig that little island. My folks have lived down there for over 20 years. Great fishing and diving and of course music!

Sent from my personal mobile thingy using whatever app this is

I love the Keys, especially Key West. Got to go last year for the first time. I was lucky enough to see a great guitar player, Michael McAdam, who has played with Steve Earle and Mary Chapin Carpenter with Ericson Holt, a great singer and piano player at Sloppy Joe's one afternoon. They were amazingly good and both are their fairly regularly.

We are hoping to go back in March or April.

I just remember going to a strip bar in the middle of the town when I was in key west... it got pretty crazy in there. and I'm not a person who really enjoys strip bars.. but that night was a blast...

My wife and I went there this past May for our 20th anniversary. On our actual wedding day, we took one of the sunset catamaran sails and Ericson Holt was the onboard entertainment. Our friends got him to sing Otis Redding's "These Arms of Mine" for us. Ericson is awesome.
