So, I really dig the warbly sound on the intro of this Bethel tune "One Thing Remains." What effect do you guys think he is using? It's fairly subtle but I really like it. It almost sounds like a rotary effect but I'm not sure. Here is the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwy5l5XnK24

Tough to tell. Very, very subtle. Some reverb at mixdown. Beats me!!

A little modulated delay on the guitar. The "warble" is actually the 1/8th note D#-A#-E# staccato lick played by what sounds like a keyboard or a bass through a tremolo effect. The mix makes it sound like the guitar has the effect on it also, but I don't hear it when the guitar is alone in the track. Listen to the track at about 40 seconds and you can hear what I mean.

Thanks guys!. Yes, it is very subtle and I'm not sure if it is the guitar or something else but on Forever and a Day there is some modulation, swirl, movement type sounds for sure. What do you think the effect is on the first lead part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-216MFASBDI. I want to purchase an effect that adds modulation and movement and this is the type of sound I'm wanting to achieve. The song is Forever and a Day from the Be Lifted High disc.

it sounds like a subtle trem/vibe combo that you could probably get pretty close to with the EHX Wiggler.

I'm able to somewhat get close to the tone with a tremolo and an analog delay:
tremolo @ 50% mix
analog delay @ 50% feedback & 45% mix.
I recently saw John Mark McMillan play and his guitarist James Duke was able to get some thick swirly atmospheric sounds. I think it was due to his RV5/Tap-a-Whirl and his DMM.

I'm hearing a lot of similarities to the live Sarah McLachlan releases.
Who is(are) the guitarist(s) in that first clip?

sounds like delay/reverb

No doubt there is pitch vibrato happening. But there's a lot of "dry" signal right alongside it. I can't identify the exact effect, but could replicate it starting with a true vibrato or trying a univibe or heavy chorus.

Jeffrey Kunde is his name and he is the lead guitar player for Bethel church in redding, ca. He's also a studio musician.

I checked out some demos of the tap a whirl and it would definitely get me closer to where I want to be.

Wow! Seems like quite the gear guy. I think it's the White Falcon that made me think of Sarah McLachlan. Anyway, I can't see anything on his board that would obtain this effect. Maybe something in the Eventide Timefactor? I've not tried one. But it isn't just a "regular" Memory Man modulated delay sound, I'm certain of that.
A more recent list from just this week has him replacing the Timefactor with a Strymon Timeline and adding a Blue Sky Reverb. Might be something in one/both of those. I don't have any personal experience with either.
He actually seems quite accessible...I'd email him- I bet he'd reply.

Ok, last post...sorry...
Was reading through his replies in his blog. He keeps his Boss RV-5 on the Modulate mode, so I listened to some clips of that and I really think that's it. Search YouTube vids for the modulate setting...there are several.

I tried to find his email but I haven't been successful so far. I contacted my pastor because he knows Brian Johnson, the worship leader at Bethel. I'll let you all know what I find out. Here is a couple good demos of the tap a whirl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuK9l3pbHtc

I just posted a question on his facebook fan page. We'll see if I get a response. I'll let you all know. Does anyone know if there is a tremolo pedal that gets close to the tap a whirl but at a lower price. It's kind of pricey around $300 new.

Unless, this isn't a comprehensive list his blog seems to indicate that it is probably some combo of a modulated delay (eventide timefactor), dmm, boss rv5, and the cusack. I'm probably going to look at purchasing a tremolo that can do things similar to the cusack or the cusack itself. Here is his gear as described on his blog http://jeffreykunde.wordpress.com/2011/05/31/my-gear/

Here is a recent picture of Jeff's pedalboard http://img.ly/6OPT He has added a strymon blue sky. I don't think he was using that when be lifted high was recorded. But, it is interesting none the less.

yeah it sounds like delay, tremolo, quite some reverb and a touch pitch shifting (chorus/vibrato). The pitch shifting would probably be the modulated delay. but you already got that i guess.
Some overdrive in there to.. or just his amp. signal is just not that clean.
For the tremolo.. i've got a t-a-w, what are the features you want in your tremolo?

I finally found Jeff's email and he responded to my inquiry. Here is his response:
That swirl was done by using a memory boy deluxe with a micro pog in the effects loop of the MMB, and then controlled with a expression pedal. Then the Boss RV5 at the end of the chain to give it a nice spacy sound.
Mystery solved!
