Does a slow setting on a phaser sound a lot different than slowly rocking a wah pedal?

I was also wondering about envelope-filters vs wah. Theoretically, you could make a wah sound just like an envelope filter using slightly-difficult technique with your foot, right?

filters work with your dynamics usually; aka how hard/soft you are picking. Most depending on the sensitivity control will open up into high frequencies with harder strumming and picking. to me wahs are basically open and shut with varying degrees of shut in between aka "cocked wah sound" A phaser with a feedback or regen control set mid to max to me does not sound at all like a wah even on slow speeds. It's not wrong what you are suggesting, for example the Pigtronix Ep-1 which is both; an Envelope Phaser. A pretty rad pedal but the most awkward box shape

Or the proteus / Prometheus offerings from subdecay. Looks right to me.
