Can someone tell me if the elf in Rudolph the Red Nosed Riendeer is modeled after Richard Deacon who played Mel on the show? I always thought it was....
By the way , Kudos to Carl Reiner for a life long career of funny, not to mention the work he did on the Oceans movies.
Anyone see The Russians Are Coming?
There is a real foundation to what was classic comedy. Carl was a big part of that.

Not sure about Rudolph, but Carl Reiner (and Alan Arkin) were fantastic in The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming. My favorite scene but he's not in it.

I saw "The Russians are Coming" at a drive-in with my folks back then when I was 14. It left an everlasting impression to this day.....

The Dick Van Dyke Show was one of my all time favorite comedy shows and Carl Reiner was the the guy with his hand on the tiller.
The episode where Laura Petrie (Mary Tyler Moore) divulges on a national TV quiz show that Rob's boss, Alan Brady (Carl Reiner) wears a toupee was priceless.
That show had so many great moments.

I'm sorry, but I never saw the "Rudolph" TV special.
But based on below, I don't see it.

By coincidence, I'm reading Dick van Dyke's autobiography now.
Lots of great behind-the-scenes stuff about one of my favorite shows.

I searched youtube for a Letterman moment to no avail .
BUT ...I`ll never forget Carl Reiner's suggestion in mid interview w/ Letterman ... that they continue as if everything else was normal except for the fact the Reiner would sit on Letterman`s shoulders and answer the questions .
How can you beat that ?
