The rhythm sounds sqishy-compressed like a good low-gain fuzz, almost like a FuzzFace rolled back a tiny bit on the volume knob. Single coils are a must. There maybe a tiny bit of octave in there too. It's more prominent in the lead lines. I would definatly say it's a fuzz of some kind though. I think a Fuzz Factory can do this kinda thing.

Sounds just like a cranked British amp to me. Very toothy and chimey, like a Vox. He's playing a Vox Phantom guitar, so why not a Vox amp? ;)

there seems to be a lot more hair and gain than a vox ac30 turned all the way up sounds like the beatles when they went into the board.

IMHO a cranked AC30 has a hell lot of gain!!! :huh
