Larry Carlton is playing two nights at the BP in November with a classic band lineup. I'm going to the 11.30pm show on the 17th.
Only time I've seen Larry live in the past is with Fourplay and after listening to the 'Last Nite' album about a million times as a teenager, I'm pretty excited!!

Nice! I sure wish they had that bullet train all built and ready to go.
The only time I've seen him live was back in '94 with an allstar lineup of Larry, Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke & Najee. They released a cd from that tour live from the Greek, which kicks butt! Great version of Stratus on this.
wow! how cool.... And back playing with Abe Sr and Greg M. Killer! I saw them at the 40th Baked Potato Anniversary and it was great. They played Room 335..

Larry was AMAZING tonight. I sat just a few feet away from him and watched as he played some of the most incredible stuff I've ever heard him play. His playing with full of fire, reminiscent of the famous Last Nite album from the '80's, (recorded at the Baked Potato)but he also exhibited a full range of dynamics creating beautiful chord melodies for intros and also as solos in tunes.
His touch and taste was unbelievable. I saw him once before with Fourplay many years ago, but this was on another level. He played much more outside than usual. The tone was of course amazing, and really broke up when he dug in, he was using a Budda amp head.
Got to hang out with him after the gig and he was extremely friendly, class act all round.
Hope some of the other people here got to catch one of the four sets split over the last two nights.

I saw that tour as well. Just amazing musicianship from everybody. I've seen LC live close to a dozen times in many different formats, trios, Fourplay, quartets and saw a show with Robben a few years back. He never fails to bring it.

Very nice!
Last time I saw LC in L.A. was c. 2002, and he played Catalina, IIRC.
I remember Greg Mathieson was on B-3, but I can't remember the rhythm section.
I'm thinking Greg Bissonette was on drums. Could have been Abe Sr. on bass...?

Cool! I always liked his CD from the Spud back in the 80's. Then I saw him live at The Dakota in Minneapolis, and was 5 feet from him. Wow, what a great show. He had two Dumble heads, and three cabs. His tone that night was very warm. Then he called Ricky Peterson (keyboardist from Mpls.) down from the balcony to join the band for a jam, and Ricky stole the show with his incredible keyboard chops! Larry was looking at him with his jaw dropped. That was a great moment. After the show, Larry seemed like the most down-to-earth guy. I'll never forget that show.

Wish I had been able to get over there. Oh well, next time. I did get to see him with Steely Dan a couple of years ago.

Yes, it was Bissonette and Travis Carlton, he (Travis) was just getting started then..

So, has Larry severed the dumble relationship, or was this just backline? I'm surprised to see him using a budda, but Larry could make any amp sound like him,
I've seen LC twice...once on an all acoustic show...meh.
Once with Robben Ford...and it was KILLIN'!
LC owned that evening, AFAIC.
Great player, obviously...I'd love to see him at the BP.
