Hi everybody. According to its manual, with the dip switch 1 "on" you already start with 3dB of gain:

http://xotic.us/effects/ep_booster/pdf/EP-booster_manual_RevApril-2011.pdf (http://xotic.us/effects/ep_booster/pdf/EP-booster_manual_RevApril-2011.pdf)

If I understood correctly, the same as the first version. But, does that mean "the same as the first version" with bass boosted or not? I mean, the new version doesn't have bass boost anymore? Thanks in advance.

No bass boost for ver 2. Unity on/off and bright on/off.

No bass boost for ver 2. Unity on/off and bright on/off.Thanks for your reply; actually I think it already has enough bass, so I might like v2 better.

I've had a v1, and now use a v2.
Seems to me v2 has about as much bass as v1 with the bass boost on!
IMO, too much. I have had to turn the bass down on my amp to compensate.
Fortunately, I use it as an always on boost, so my clean tone is not affected, and it works well for me. I have the gain switch off and the treble boost on.

I actually bought this to use as a volume boost for solos and such, but the bass thing was too much for me. Too bad. I want to try the RC next for that.

Anyway, both are great pedals and I bet you will love the RC. Also, it allows you to turn down the bass, if that's the case. Not to mention it has a flatter voice and is more transparent.

I had a v1 and sold it for a v2. Even though I know better, for some reason I feel v1 sounded better...maybe fuller. I don't know.

Anyone has a tip?

The factory setting has some form of bass boost going on. I play mine on the vintage setting and can tell the difference.

According to the manual it does, but I can hear some low end lost when I set it at vintage. I have had both versions and can't ell much of a difference between them.

But considering you've already had both versions, do you think the new one has the same amount of bass as the older one with bass boosted or off?

I might be wrong, but I believe there is no bass boost on V2, but they did eq the natural setting to have enough bass.

I have it on the unity gain setting. switch 1 off switch2 on.

I don't mean to sound critical towards the EP as I really like it. As an always on boost it makes every thing more..........well more.
Too bad the eq isn't more transparent.

I usually play with humbuckers. With single coils YMMV
