I've had my Vox AC30CC2x for about 2 months now, but I haven't been liking it too much, the whole made in China thing kinda freaks me out, and I put it up on Craiglist a few days ago to see what I could get for it. Well, today a guy a couple hours away asked if I would trade my amp, which includes brand new tubes and a road case, for his Victoria Victorilux, that is about a year old. It's the Victorilux with a single 15 inch speaker in it. I'm wondering if this is a good deal for me and what some people think about the Victorilux. I've got a 59 Bassman LTD as well. Is the Victorilux gonna sound like that?
Thanks for any help I can get.

That's a pretty uneven trade. If somebody wants to do a straight trade, I say jump on it. Even if you don't like the Victorilux, you can sell it for more than an AC30cc2x. I haven't played the Victorilux, but all the other Victorias I've played have been terrific (and just for reference, I used to own an AC30cc2x).

Yeah, at least from a price point, it seems crazy, he got the amp given to him by his Dad apparently. He asked if I'd throw my TS-9 in for good measure. But even with that, I'm thinking I'm going to do it. Is the 15 inch speaker going to be strange?

It's not necessarily that it's "made" in China per say. It's more the fact that I hear the circuit boards in them are pretty hard to get worked on around here. But yes, I'm afraid my iPhone was made in China. I misspoke.

I really like single 15" speakers, but in case you don't, here are the dimensions from the Victoria website:
2x12: 20.5 x 24.5 x 11
or 1x15 20.5 x 24.5 x 11
So if you Don't like the 1X15, just turn it into a 2x12.

Is converting it to a 2x12 a pretty simple task?

The Vox AC30cc2x is a hell of an amp, gigged a pair of them for a good 6 years straight with zero problems whatsoever so don't let the made in China thing worry you. Definitely built like a tank and made to last.

Looks like Victoria uses the same cab for both the 1X15, and 2x12, so this should be a really simple task. You just need a new baffle. If you end up doing the trade and decide to turn it into a 2x12, just give Victoria a call. In my experience, a lot of the boutique builders tend to be very helpful even when you aren't the first owner of the amp.

Well guys, after making the trade, the Victorilux is certainly the better amp of the two for me personally. The tremolo on the Victoria is just top notch. It takes pedals real well, too. And if I ever decide I don't like it, I can probably sell it for more than I put into the Vox. Thanks for the help, fellas. I appreciate it.

I had a Victorilux 310 with el84s. Probably the best cleans I've had to date...and the reverb and trem are absolutely stellar. I did not, on the other hand, enjoy the way it sounded driven.
