I have a Rat that appears to be the same as this one:

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=983981

It is mint though (I am orig. owner), has the LM308 chip, orig box, orig paperwork. Even the box is mint. Label on back says Made In The U.S.A. with serial RT-174379. Pot code P137/9223. I think that means CTS pot in 23rd week of 92??

According to above post they are worth some money ($125).

The paperwork in the box says it is a Rat 2. I think the above post is also showing a Rat 2?

Thanks for any response as I might put it up for sale or trade, as I would like a looper, have been looking at the Boss RC-2 and RC-3's.

I got a '95 RAT2 with the LM308 from here for 75 bucks. It just depends on the demand, really. I sold my '92 Turbo RAT with LM308 for 80 bucks, FWIW.

Thanks Zero, I checked Ebay after my post here and I see they are "trying" to get $150 or so for the Rat2's with that chip. Hard to go by Ebay though as a lot of scam artists.

Mine is pretty minty as I am just a home player and got a TS9 reissue not long after they came out, as well as other OD pedals (Chandler Tube Driver/Boss Pedals). For me the TS9 RI (on second one as switch went on the first after a few years), gets the tone I like with a tube amp.

I actually had the original Rat years ago also. I do not know if the circuits are the same or not, I know the tone/filter knob works backwards compared to the orig I had. Case on Rat2 seems smaller also.

If they only bring $75 I think I will keep it lol.

This is the lowest price I've seen though so don't fret. The whiteface originals without the LEDs fetch way more than 90s RATs. I guess it's because it's not vintage yet? Anyway, I couldn't be happier with a TS + RAT combo. The RAT cleans up enough with some added grit to your signal, then just stomp on the TS for some sweet leads.
