I fell in love with this song from the movie "Rushmore", not knowing much about it. Recently a local band started covering it, and I found it was a one-song rock opera as a precursor to Tommy, and have been digging this version a lot.

Just for grins, today I shared it with the gf (who could take or leave music in general) and her reply was: "wow......WOW!" Very surprised.

The subtleties in showmanship are most fetching:

I know this is old news to many of you out there, but it's still fresh stuff, IMO.
(I think the Live at Leeds version is too sterile compared to this one)

Where in Ohio? My band (The Japanese B-Sides) is just now learning it. I've wanted to play that song for the past five years or so. I can't wait to do it!

Wow indeed. Man I love The Who, but seriously, what type of clubs are bands covering this song in? That does surprise me. As Zaphod once said, you'd have to be so hip you could barely see over your own pelvis to cover that song, surely??

I love "A Quick One" and this performance was the highlight of the Rock and Roll Circus

aside; another cool part of the show was Jethro Tull with the Mr Tony Iommi playing his Strat

Did this one in the Who trib. I was in. The hardcore fans loved it! Well worth the effort it took to learn it.....

Are you kidding me? This NEVER gets stale. It gets my blood moving everytime I watch it.

One of the greatest moments of Rock and Roll History IMO.

ya, this so cool. Keith Richrads sporting his rotten teeth, barely able to smake a cigar correctly....and how about Moonie? That guy cracks me up everytime I see him do anything beside play drums...I have seen posted on these pages that he could have been a pro comic...I believe it...the drums got him a great gig as well....

+1. Even though this didn't air, it seems like the Who reclaimed the mojo Hendrix and Cream were threatening to steal (maybe Cream had already broken up at this point ...). -E

My old band used to do this song back in the day, and my brother and I still jam with this song every time we get together. What a great song, and so much fun to play!

thats my favorite 'Oo song.

I prefer the Leeds version though ; the RnR circus is badass no doubt, but Pete misses a bunch of chords. (and "Come on 'ol horse" is missing)I do like the ending better.

Funny ,the kid from Rushmore looks just like Moon. Great movie.

He's actually a drummer and was supposed to play Moon in the biopic they've been trying to make for the last 10+ years. -E
