I've got a bunch of soft synths but I'm not really knowledgable about OSC, LFO's etc.

Anyone know a good online resource for learning synths?

There are some you tube videos.

Try a book on "Analog Synthesis".

There's a magazine called "Sound on Sound" that has back articles online and has a lot of good info.

Google: Subtractive Synthesis

You'll get the basics there.

There's Additive, Subtractive, AM, FM, Wavetable and Granular Synthesis. Each uses different methods to create sound. Subtractive is probably the most thoroughly discussed though as that's what kind of started it all and the early Moogs were this way.

Best,
Steve

Just play with them. Even the guys I've known who use real Moogs and Junos and so on often just mess around to see what gets what sound. There's an old interview with Bowie (I think it was Bowie) where he says that when they first had synths the first thing that they did was throw out the manuals.
