I skipped out going to the in-laws for thanksgiving with my wife and daughter because I decided to run in a 10k race today. Little did I know that there was absolutely no food in the house. The only thing in the fridge outside of beer was a package of bacon and some cheese slices. I guess I blew the health benefits of running 6.2 miles today.

I did set a PR for my run so that was good.

We always include bacon in some way for turkey day. Today it was in with the green beans and also we had bacon wrapped tiger prawns. Mmmmmm!

I think bacon goes with everything but this may have been the first time I ate it as the main course.

In honor of pigs bacon should be included on Thanksgiving. Why should a turkey get all the spot light. I saw a bacon wrapped turkey photo and congrats on you new record. maybe you should eat bacon more...

I'm always in on a bacon thread.

I made my own bacon a couple months ago in my Weber Smokey Mountain cooker. It turned out great.

I used some of it to make bacon jam which I entered in our local fall fair jam contest, one of the judges was local restaurateur, and former Iron Chef, Michael Noble.

He loved the bacon, but sadly, I did not win the jam contest. :o

step one: buy some whiskey
step two: buy some bacon
...scratch that, reverse it...
step three: cook that bacon (take a nip off the whiskey)
step four: drain and strain the bacon grease
step five: pour the grease into the whiskey
step six: mix and mix and mix...won't blend good (or at all) but keep mixing.
step seven: throw the mixture into the freezer, wait for separation.
step eight: skim the fat after chilling
step nine: strain one more time for good measure
step ten: drank.

At least it tastes good. Sometimes turkey can be sort of dry.

A friend of mine who's really into grillin' posted his Thanksgiving creation on facebook, two big turkey breasts each completely wrapped in bacon then cooked on the grill, not sure what kind, smoker maybe.

Looked good to me!
