I recently received an amp thru UPS. Micraculously, the amp arrived fine for the most part. The only issue is the reverb pan.

There were 2 little metal things rolling around in there. I couldn't find were they went, and the tank works fine in the amp.

So, curious to where the hell these things came from, I took apart another tank I had to compare. They belong in the top of the tank. They don't touch anything or even appear to have any function.

If you flip the tank over and take a look at the bottom, you'll see 2 posts sticking up. Anybody know what these things are? Are they even needed?

Do you mean the posts which stick up through two round holes in the suspended section?

If so, they're there to prevent excessive movement of the suspended section in transport, which will eventually strain and break the wires that run to the jacks.

If the posts have been snapped off, the amp has been dropped seriously hard - it's actually surprising no other damage has occured, and I would go through the whole amp very carefully and check for other hidden problems. Sounds fairly typical of couriers... I received an amp recently where both transformer housings were bent by the force of the amp being dropped - although it did work fine and there was no other apparent damage.

I would replace the posts BTW - they do serve a purpose. The easiest thing to do is to drill through where they used to be and fit two small bolts and nuts.

Those are excatly what I am talking about. I was able to just put them back in the holes with alittle pressure. I am sure the amp was dropped quite hard. It does play fine. I am going to disassemble the whole thing today and take a look to see of anything else is not quite right.
Thanks for your reply.
