I've been messing around trying to get the Blackmore Live sound. To get the California Jam, I found the Park to sound best to my ears; pushed with a Line 6 drive I enjoy playing it for that sound. To get the Made in Europe Live sound which had more bite, I found the Line 6 Elektrik to be surprisingly suitable with mid focus EQ pushing it to simulate a Treble boost by cutting bass at 20 %. Then again it was the original Bogner Uber which is essentially a modified marshall so it seems to make sense.
I used the two amps on two tracks with literally no editing. The amps are the EXACT patches with no EQ or Compression and mainly centered so the resulting mix wasn't adjusted for headphones but it should be ok. I alternated between the amps and on few occasions they both played at the same time, the brighter one is the Line 6 Electrik. I’m not one to play note for note, so please don’t mind that as I know there are probably thousands of other guitar players that can play the song better than me, but I’m actually enjoying that sound. This was abacking track and I only played guitar. Let me know what you think.

You did a really good job. It sounds excellent. In particular, I like the way you dialed in the verb, or room sim, or delay to create a room signature. I think a lot of people overdo the wetness, but you seem to strike a nice balance. There's just enough wetness to give it depth, yet it's still dry enough to cut well and have teeth. :aok

Thank you. Funny you say that because I screwed up so much with reverbs in general that finally I made up a rule that whenever I like the reverb level, I come back later and cut it in half including reverb time. On this one I did use many delays in small portions and a small Tile reverb for the depth. I wanted to know how capable the HD reverbs were and I'm concluding that if they were included in a Plugin (POD Farm HD) they would be very useable because I wouldn't print any reverb on any serious work. If you notice from the Picture the Tape delay is infront of the amp and it's disabled, I used that for the intro and disabled it for the rest. I wasn't sure how close to the California Jam this patch will get but to my ears in my speakers it sounds close enough for me to finally stop fiddling with it.
I appreciate the feedback because of ear fatigue sometimes I have no idea if it's good or Junk. So thanks again for the feedback I know many guys have very good ears around here and that helps alot because I'm setting up to record some of my own stuff very soon and just got the HD500 and I'm encouraged to use it for most things.

Thanks the guitar I used my home made strate with Kinman AVN 69 for Neck and HX-85 for bridge (Not sure if that's the Wood stock plus setup) .
I just uploaded the patches to custome tone.

Really great sounding clip there! I especially like the idea of using the echo as a drive. I'm defiantly going to give that a try.
Did you record that through the USB out or xlr (or 1/4") to and audio interface?

Thanks. I used the SPDIF at 48hkz into an EMU sound card. The tape echo colors the sound slightly making it thicker and adds some sag and I think it does more to the feel than the sound.

Great tone and playing. Too much mids though, it sounds a little dark.
This is my take on Mistreated California jam tone using Axe-Fx 2.

I love your tone and playing also. What I like about your tone: "it's hairy" Just like a real Marshall should be. Thanks for chiming in. Just curious, what amp model or dirt box did you use in the AXE II?

Not a big fan of the HD500 myself. Tried it for a while and sold it off. With that said, I enjoyed your clip. The feeling and tone really came through to my ears. I actually liked it better than the AXE II version posted by oacikgoz, and that is what makes music so fantastic! There is something for everyone. Thank you both for sharing your takes on this song. I got an opportunity to see Blackmore with Rainbow at the Cow Palace in San Francisco back in the early 80s, but I have not followed him that much. I had not heard this song prior to your post. Thanks.

I used Marshall Plexi model treble channel. With advanced settings, I converted the power section into Marshall Major's specs. I put a tape distortion in front, tweaked its settings a little bit. I used Celestion H30 speakers. I also used a compressor at the beginning of the chain. (to simulate blackmore's tape unit which compresses the tone quite a bit.)
