Title says it all. Which do you prefer and why?
Asking because I'm looking at my first fuzzface and need advice, cheers :)

I prefer Ge with my Twin reverb.

Owned a si Fuzz Face for about a year but to be honest couldnt really get it to "work" for me.

Now I use an Analog.man SunfaceNKT with the red dots and it is great.
Also use an Analog.man Dark Peppermint Fuzz for something a little different.

Both! GE for lower gain and more low end harmonic structure, often works well with lower input ie single coils.... Si for higher gain and works well with humbuckers. So, I use both for that reason. One of my favorite FF's was the Dunlop JH1 - only got rid of it due to its size. That is a Si FF.

I use a Diaz Square Face Ge and a PTD Mini Bone Si.

Oh --- and it's also good to have a amp on the verge with FF's.... I've found that they produce better - thicker results... More harmonic content. Almost always end up running the volume and fuzz dimed on traditional FF's as well. They just sound better that way :)

I've had fantastic experiences with the Skreddy Lunar Module (silicon) running into BF Fender amps.

Totally depends on which BF you play through

I prefer Si with my DRRI. I've got some amazing Ge's but they tend to be a bit fizzy and sound much better through my british voiced amps. Si's on the other hand, are a very easy match for it.

I prefer SI with my Super Reverb, but usually 'cause I'm not cranking it like it wants to be cranked. next time i get a minute to bring it up to 6 and shake the walls I'll try GE again and see if I like it more.

I had both the '69 and '70 at the same time. '70 sounds a little "colder" with my 1966 Band-Master

i thought the lunar module was a big muff clone....like most of skreddy's fuzzes.

I'm in the same boat - trying to find the fuzz's that really work for me, and I have not got on with my Ge FF. I have an Analogueman Sunface high-gain Red Dot and find it's just too dark and mushy for me to play thru my BF's or my Marshalls. I love the tone others get - I thought I would be getting that early 'BBC Sessions' - era Hendrix thing going on, but it's not there for me however much I tinker. Listening to early Gilmour, especially 'Pompei' suggests to me that I might like the brighter, tighter and more strident Si FF. If they dont do it, I'll have to admit I'm just a Tonebender guy and that's that!

nope. its a highly tweakable SI fuzzface, going after Gilmour's DSOTM tone which was with a fuzzface rather than the muffs he switched to a few years later.

All of Skreddy's stuff is great, but the LM is a special one not to be overlooked. :phones

For old, darker Blackfaces I would go with a Silicon version but I've had success with both types with my '65 Bassman.

I have a Pharaoh set to Ge and a BA Scarab Deluxe (Si) running into my '69 Super (converted to BF specs). I use them for different things:

1. I've got the Pharaoh (Ge) set to a smoother fuzz for lower gain stuff that I use my volume knob and pick attack to fluctuate with dynamics of songs.

2. I've got the Scarab Deluxe set to a punchier rhythm fuzz - used mostly with HBs.

I would say you could probably do both with one, but this is TGP - just get two fuzzes! :aok

I haven't had a lot of success w/ fuzzfaces and blackface Fender circuits. Tonebenders seem to do a lot better IMO, the more prominent mids seems to mesh better w/ that type of circuit- my Soulbender works great for this...

It is hard to find something that is totally satisfying...
Between the two, I try to find a Ge fuzz that stays present and match it with a small Fender on the verge but not mushy--its gotta stay tight. Alternately a large bright Fender like a twin sounds great w/ a Ge fuzz too.
But I also have found some Si fuzzfaces that are not too bright and will work with a more Hi-fi Fender sound, without losing that much body.I hate the volume pot mod on Si.
Right now I run a 90s Dunlop red Ge and a blue JH-F1 that I just got which is quite good too.

+1....I've gone through quite a few flavors of fuzz and recently picked up the same thing...Analogman Sunface NKT red dot....also got the on/off switch and light and sunface dial. The on/off switch will enable you to not have to unplug the 'input' cable as to not wear down your battery. I originally was going to get the 9v input jack, but read on his site that it does affect the sound quality so I scratched that feature. HIGHLY recommend this pedal.

I found that having both a Ge and a Si in my BYOC FF clone worked the best for me. (As far as a compromise in stability and tone. Although both Ge and Si sounded great.) I'm running it as my main drive into a champ thru a 12" cab. Turning both the treble and bass down on the amp was critical for making the fuzz more controllable and smooth.
Good luck
