Eleven Rack Updates

So I bought an Eleven Rack when it first came out over a year ago. I played with it a little, never even installed Pro Tools onto my Mac, just jammed on the 11R through my Boogie. Fun, but not thrilling.

Now, I am interested in trying to use it as a live rig, but would like to update it as much as possible. Here's the problem, I am not a tech guy, and am definitely not a Pro Tools guy. Do I have to have Pro Tools installed to update the 11R? How do I accomplish this?
