Just curious. Seems we guitarists are having all the fun. Like many of us guitarists, I do have a bass mixed among my gear. Are there any boutique models out there?

I believe MATAMP has specific handwired bass models, and if you want to go old school and use a Hiwatt, or Superbass circuit Germino, or something along those lines, that'd sound great I'm sure.

My Alessandro Bloodhound (#1, with 6550s) makes a great studio or small combo bass amp-light and the attack is stellar...

The Sadowsky bass amp is beautiful. I'm not sure if it's hand wired but it is boutique. There are a bunch of hand wired tube bass preamps around though, many of them with audio clips @ basstasters.

    all tube-wise:

my alessandro basset hound is by far one of the best bass amps i've ever owned/played.

not sure, but i think the sadowsky is handwired by Dolf Koch of Koch Amplification.

aguilar no longer makes the all tube db359, but they can be found on the bay. IMHO, a classic amp that unfortunately, dave boonshoft no longer sees as profitable.

and brad at jacksonworks is still in the midst of making his own creation. heck, half of Talkbass put their two cents in to help him suss it out. ;)

non all tube-wise, there LOTS of great amps. the thunderfunk is a terrific amp. Euphonic Audio makes a great hifi amp w/ a killer EQ section. the Epifani ul502 and 902 are in a class by themselves in terms of hifi sound and killer power. the Eden gear despite being bought out by US Music, still make a terrific amp. glockenkang is the european benchmark for hifi tone. and the list goes on and on and on. ;)

the walter woods amp is one of the ultimate boutique hand wired bass amps. he even winds his own transformers by hand.

the sadowsky amp is a killer.... it's manufactured and codesigned by koch.

Bass players are just as crazy as guitar players but in a different way. Don't ask me what I mean by that. I can't explain it but I know it's true. Then again, some of them aren't crazy at all.
