Every time I watch Gilmour play that my tongue gets dry enough to track a coon across it....cuz I sit there with my mouth open....in awe!

I can only take Floyd in small doses. I like Gilmour's solos but that's it.

Gilmour is certainly one of my favorite guitarists but my favorite live solo ever is a toss up between two Phish songs: Stash from their A Live One album or Run Like An Antelope from their 4/3/98 show at the Nassau Coliseum.

Here's a YouTube of the Antelope. It's incendiary.

One of the all-time great performances ever. Did ya'll notice the old "coiled" guitar cables....I actually remember having those. [IMG]

Alvin Lee was and is an amazing player for sure....I still listen to "I'm Goin' Home"

I'm am partial to Creams "Crossroads" and my all time favorite live guitar solo as well as Dickeys solo with the ABB on "One Way Out":dude

That's amazing, just wow! But I love Yngwie's playing style too. Lots of room for great guitar players you know.

    What a ridiculous statement.....

Thats like saying Michael Jordan makes Emmitt Smith look like a hack....

    They are entirely different.....

And I am not a huge Yngwie fan...

Point taken! But more like comparing Michael Jordan to Shaq....afterall, they both do play guitar. I've just never been a fan of someone that substitutes speed over substance. Playing scales really, really fast is impressive to some people obviously, but writing an actual piece of music....with phrasing and nuance and beauty is something else entirely. So I suppose , in a sense , you are correct.....except that my original statement was taken a bit out of context, although not much. I actually wrote it in response to the first post comparing the armless player to making Yngwie look like a school boy, but by the time I wrote it and hit "submit" a post had come in between. But whatever....

His might be vintage, I have no idea where he got it. I'm new school and play wireless, so it's the total 180.
