In a previous Les Paul that I have since sold I had a set of Duncan '59s which I loved. I liked the crisp clarity they had. I just bough another LP that came with a set of Burstbucker Pros which to me sound pretty good. I was thinking of swapping out the stock pickups on this new guitar for a set of '59s but after listening to the BB Pros Im now debating it. It has been a while since I sold the one with the '59s in it so its hard for me to compare the 2.

Both are A5 and potted. Anyone out there like one better than the other? Why? How do they compare?

I know it ain't the popular thing here - but I've got a set of BB Pros in my MIJ Epi LP & absolutely love the heck out of them! So much so that I wouldn't even think of going booteek or anything...at least not for this LP (maybe for future ones ;))

I was underwhelmed by BB Pros. I'd go with the Duncans.

I've played both, and currently have BB Pros in my 08 LP.

I like the Pros. To me they're a bit more trebly, but for playing gigs, they also cut through the mix a bit better (to my ear, anyway) than the Duncans. I find that for home practice, I dial back the amp or guitar's tone knobs a notch or two, but not for gigs.

I really like the Pros. (as a side note, the only pickups I like more are the 57 Classics in my LP Classic).

I've tried the duncan 59's. Great pickups. But I prefer the BB Pros in my Les Paul. I had a tough time with the bb-pros at first and tried different pickups in there including the duncan Custom Custom (also a great pickup, which is now in my strat). But I went back to the stock BB Pros after going les paul shopping for a friend. I figured out that by setting their heights a little lower than factory or what I would have normally set the duncans, I was able to get more clarity and sustain and they have that nice vintage tone to them that really cuts through the mix. The duncans are nice, but I'm sticking with the BB's. Gibson got it right with these.

I never played the pro, but I have had the BB 1 and 2. Replaced them with Classic 57. I think these are underated..............IMHO BB are over rated
