Anyone compare the newer Legend GB128 to the discontinued GB1216?

Is the tone quality the same?

    Thanks!

Yep. Have had the latter, not really impressed. I've read the 16 ohm version sounds a little different. I don't think one is any newer than the other, though they may have just discontinued the 16 ohm version.

I've heard that the 16 ohm does'nt sound as good. The 8 sounds really good.

Depends on your amp and cab. I had a GB128 that sounded great in one setup, but found it lacking in another.

About 5 years ago, I bought a cheap, crappy MDF empty 4 X 12" cab to experiment with. Just about every speaker I put in it sounded bland and piercing. I threw two Eminence GB1216 into it and I finally began to hear beautiful tones.

    I like the GB1216.

I've heard the opposite. I haven't compared, but I love my GB1216's in my 4x12.
