GFS surf 90, mean 90, or something else?

So, I've been unhappy with the neck pickup in my 2 HB godin detour (maple/ rosewood neck - body with silverleaf maple center with poplar wings - 24.75" scale). Right now, the leading plan is to get a surf 90 and hopefully I'll end up with nice rock tone from the bridge pickup (already have it) and a nice jangly neck pup tone. Hopefully, I'll also end up with a nice quacky middle postion (3-way blade switch) if I tap the bridge HB and run it in parallel with the surf 90 in that position.

I've never tried any GFS pickups and the price point and the fact that they are direct HB replacements is what's attracting me. I've read some pretty decent reviews, so I think I'm on the right track. I guess I'm just looking for any thoughts that anybody would like to share with me on any of this.

I realize that the outputs will not match, but I tend to view that as a benefit.

I stuck a couple of surf 90's in my Sparrow Big Daddy and have been VERY pleased with the results. You can't go wrong for the price.

I have a pair in my Gretsch 5120 and they sound more like a set of Tele pups...not like a P90. I really like them. Jangly/Twangy is about right.

Mean 90s are fantastic- just a bit clearer in the mids than a real P90 with less noise. Have heard nothing but good things about the Surfs.
