How good is the x3 live at giving you the dumble sounds? are the good, and do you have that "feel" that the amp provides?

My old line 6 spider was horrible feeling...

the dumble model might have been, imho, the worst in the X3 Live, but I've never played a real D. I only know I found it mostly useless.

And the modeler is not designed to give you the feel of an amp, but rather, the sound of a complete miked rig.

The Dumble in the X3 is useless. If you're mainly after that sound you should look at the Ethos, is the one that goes nearer...well it depends, problem being that there is no 2 Dumble sounding the same (never had one, but this is the opinion of some hi-level expert)

I don't have the X3, i only have Pod Farm at the moment which does not include Dumble model. But i remember the old POD 2.0 had the Dumble and it was not bad (i haven't owned, even hear or saw any Dumble in person but i am very familiar with how Robben Ford sounds on records). Damn.. do i miss that old bean.. also very nice Plexi, JTM45, JCM800, and Soldano models were there.. i tried hard but could not make any marshall models worked for me in Pod Farm, but i like Soldano model a lot on Pod Farm..

If you have POD Farm Platinum you probably have it I believe L6 Boutique # 1 is the dumble clean and it's in POD FARM.
It's actually very nice once you play it, but it's funny that they modeled based on their own pod 2.0 model:rotflmaoI got this description from POD X3 model pack.

"Line 6 Boutique #1 – Based on* the POD 2.0 model of the Clean Channel from the Dumble®
    Overdrive Special.

I don't have the Platinum, I have the basic one came with the PodStudio UX1. When i got it new i checked Line6 website in case there is a low cost upgrade option to Platinum but i just saw Metal, Boutique and FX Junky model packs (50$ each) at that time.

Correct me if i am wrong but i remember reading somewhere their current Tradeplate model also modelled after the one from POD 2.0. I guess Line6 better sell a POD 2.0 model pack including all amp and cab models. I remember it was alot more fun than what is found in basic Pod Farm today(can't comment about platinum). I guess it shouldn't be an issue to run those old algorithms on current hyped hardware. Isn't it what they did on M series.

Check out these recordings i just found. Description tells all done with old Pod. Some are sound really good to me.

Sorry to OP, no dumble samples there :( (also sorry for going off topic :hide2 )

O yeah, the L6 Treadplate I believe is based on POD 2.0 treadplate. It's also nice. If you want the POD FARM Platinum, try to get an old gearbox silver or gold and when you go to Line 6 website you will upgrade to POD FARM Platinum for free!! Here's one on EBAY, try to talk the guy into shipping to ANKARA. Who knows you might get for less than $100.

But if you want my advice, get any of the POD HD. I finally got mine and it's way better than POD Farm and the effects are also way better.

dRegarding the effects in the M class I thought like you originally until I tried them. They're much more detailes and advanced they might as well be something new. I couldn't believe how nice they sound in my POD HD 300

    Yeah,

the ethos is on my list if the xt live did not do it, and i guess it don't. I will stick to my original plan.

    thanks for the replys!

Thanks a lot for your advice on Gearbox and posting the link PinkPanther ! i really appreciate it. At this point my plan for using the Pod Farm is recording vocals, bass, acoustics.. I also had good results using external preamps with Pod Farms cab/mic sims and effects. So, in my situation going platinum would not add a lot for what i am doing. On the other hand i already ordered an Axe FX (hope it'll arrive soon). So my financial resources are tight to be spent for extra things for a while.

I have an M13, and i am lovin' how it sounds and i think it is the greatest design ever for ease of use! I never had any of the 4 button stomp box modelers from Line6 but i remember when M13 first came out, it was introduced as the sum of DL4, DM4, MM4, FM4 and Verbzilla pedal (+plus some dry thru models of some existing effects) with better A/D~D/A converters and bypass capabilities. In my opinion sometimes old does not mean bad (even in digital), as well as new is not always better (in my opinion Vox and Yamaha are going backwards in modeling products).

I'll buy a Pod HD someday if the reviews for reliability stand good. I was not lucky with M13. It turns on/off randomly sometimes. Knowing about the M13 i can imagine HD500 would be great with an amp for effects. Also would be great for a portable ampless all in one rig.

    My pleasure.

You're getting an AXE FX so you should be set for good while to say the least. You will have a good Dumble overdrive simulation in it.
