Guys...yesterday, I got in my blonde Chad Underwood hardtail Strat. When I first opened the box, I noticed how light it was(6lbs. 4oz.). When I strummed it unplugged, the thing rang out like a grand piano...I kid you not! I thought to myself, "If this thing sounds half as good plugged in as it does unplugged, I'll be a REAL happy guy."
Well...I got it home and plugged it into my 1963 AC 30. This guitar sounds GLORIOUS!!! It has Ron Ellis pickups in it, which Chad had been raving to me about. He was not exaggerating...these things sound unreal. Every position sounds great. The string separation is great....I cannot put this guitar down.
Thanks Chad for hitting this one out of the park, and thanks Ron for making some killer pickups.
It's been raining and overcast, but I had to shoot a couple of quick pics. Please forgive the quality of them.
    ENJOY!

Looks great! I have one on order, and while I'm quite sure it'll be amazing it's always good to hear more reviews to corroborate that. Same Ron Ellis pups Chad's been raving about. Ugh... going to be a long..3 months?

Very cool man! I have a hardtail Chad Strat myself. Builds the best strats around. His teles are supposed to be the bomb too.

Congrats Charlie! How's this one compare to the surf green one? I've always heard that hardtails have a different sound to them.

I got my Underwood last year and I love it. I have the Ellis 50/60s Strat set and they are great. Congrats on a cool guitar.

I've always liked the bridge pickup on a hardtail....they get closer to Tele territory that does their whammy equipped brethren. This one's bridge pickup sounds great!
However, I live in the 2nd "in between" position, and both of these guitars sound wonderful there.....all the chime you'd ever want, plus the balls for a great chewy lead sound.
I'd be hard pressed to say which one I like better.....I'm glad I don't have to choose!:)
